So they are pulling out because of the ‘reaction’

WTF did they EXPECT the reaction to be ? Was anyone sensible telling them but the arrogance of the owners meant they ignored the counsel they did get ? Looking forward to what comes out over the next few days - the resignations and recriminations are going to be a joy to watch

I wonder if the clubs involved genuinely didn't anticipate just how serious their scheme is. The government being involved, protests outside the ground..

Long tweet from Kevin De bruyne, which ludicrously ends with some twaddle about us all coming together to find a 'solution.

Solution to what? **** off. The solution is no change, or..... sod off

If it's the ameicans, why don't Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool + 1 simply replace that Amsterdam pre-season tournament?

Right. Apocalypse narrowly averted. Now get the Premier League owners back together to work out how to stop this happening again in 5 years time. The rule book needs rewriting after this.

....as long as it’s just the 14. The 6 can **** off if they think they should have any influence now.

Real setting up a Madrid Super League, they will play their Under 23s one week, and then their under 23s the next week , before playing their under 23s the week after.

The Bradford and Bingley Building Society are financing it.

It is the same reaction as we saw in the Royal Family, shocked by the public reaction to the young prince 'blooded' in the dying blood of a slaughtered animal.

Why?

Because they are out of touch narcissists, feather-bedded by massive piles of money, much of it stolen via the pursuit of unfair advantage..

If this goes the way we all hope it goes, and with the withdrawal of Chelsea, that starts to look more likely, the big six will have lost a huge amount of influence in the Prem League, and with the resignation of some of their UEFA posts not only have they lost influence in the Pem but over European football as well. If so it may well be a good thing in the end.

No one will trust a thing these club owners say anymore as its obvious whatever they were saying in the CL redesign negotiations was nothing more than a stalling operation until they could try and kill that particular competition

So in very short order they have managed to almost universally unite their own and every other clubs fans against them, shown themselves for what we all knew they were anyway, lost influence in national and international organisations. Possibly the most spectacular own goal in history

I'm certain Lewis Dunk has the capacity to match it later this evening

If this all falls apart the clubs involved still need punishment & regulations out in place so this stuff never happens again

I think the answer is so obvious it's not even a question.

Exactly, if they get what they've asked for, it's all over for the rest. There's no decision to make for the likes of Brighton. Of course they can't have what they've asked for.

Simply tell the clubs they have to choose ESL or PL, and that's the end of it. Then they will have a decision to make, and they'd be mad to choose to leave.

I don't agree that they need the PL as much as the PL needs them. They need the PL much more.

This is the truth.... you are correct. The whole idea of the " Super League " was to top up their current income with a midweek moneyspinner competition as an add on from their domestic leagues. If they have to abandon La liga,Seria A and The Premiership the midweek income will not be enough to support them. They have to stay rooted in their domestic leagues to cream that cash too unless, someone with absolute mega wealth can offer them the money to jump ship permanently and guaranteed. We have not have heard the last of this, next time they will make sure enough money is in place before they announce it and, it will be permanent.
