What I'm saying is that Alonso is a better driver than Hamilton as things stand. He doesn't get red mist, he just gets the best out of the car. The Renault is arguably not as good a car as the McClaren, it's just that Alonso is a more consistent driver who drives with his head and not his heart. How many times has Alonso made mistakes this season. Surely your not going to be dumb enough ( or should that read so biased) to suggest as often as Hamilton. I haven't checked but it seems to me that Alonso has outqualified Hamilton in most races this season?

Cast your mind back to the season that they raced together, Hamilton did as well as he did because he is a talented driver and was in the best car but mainly because the team set his car up on data gained from Alonso and he was the favoured driver by McClaren. Last season Hamilton had the best car but only just managed to beat Massa because he f***ed up in so many races ( driving into another car in the pit lane being the most memorable) and didn't have Alonso's expertise to draw on in car set up.

Don't get me wrong I love watching Lewis drive but he is not the best driver on the grid let alone an all time great. That may come but at the moment he is just a very exciting driver who doesn't seem to be able to come to terms with the fact that he's got a shit car for the 1st time in his career. Imo he has underperformed too often to be considered a "great". Alonso is undoubtably an all time great and managed to win 2 WC driving against quite possibly the greatest ever driver..Schumacher.

Pathetic to suggest Alonso is a better driver? Are you sure your opinions are not coloured by the fact that Hamilton is English?

I don't agree that Alonso doesn't get red mist. He couldn't hack the pressure of being beaten by Lewis in 2007. Lewis has made mistakes this year but even the best drivers make mistakes. Massa spun 5 times at Silverstone last season but would have been a worthy world champion. As I said before Schumacher amongst others has walled it at Monaco.

I'm not saying Lewis is the best. I just thought the comment about Lewis not showing World Champion material and you saying it was pathetic to suggest he was better than Alonso. Hamilton has had some superb races, such as Silverstone last year in terrible conditions. He's had some good races this year. He beat Alonso when they were head to head. He's pretty much matched him so far this season. I don't even disagree with you, I think Alonso is possibly better. However I don't think its "pathetic" to thinks otherwise.

I didn't say it was pathetic to suggest Alonso was the better driver. I said the comparison you made was pathetic (not showing quality/alonso driving a shit car better). They are both superb drivers in my opinion.

jenson is obviously in the best car, but when is he going to make a mistake? it is his FLAWLESS driving that is raping this championship

they may have had similarly-standard cars last years, but the cock ups that massa and hamilton made kept the season interesting. jensons perfection is ensuring that this season is going to be over very quickly

still, it should spell the death knell for the LUDICROUS medal idea

I can't disagree with that but what I would say is that he hasn't been put under the same type of pressure as Hamilton and Massa yet.

It's a shame Vettel pitted when he got behind Jenson because it would have been good too see Jenson having to defend and fight for position on the track for a bit longer.

I'm not saying I think he will make mistakes. He's been impressive but it would be really impressive to see him performe flawlessly when he has genuine competition.
