Opus Kink at Patterns last night were superb - gig of the year territory.
Couldn’t go last night as I am away, but saw their instore at Resident a few weeks ago where they were also magnificent.

I have tickets for their December show at The Concorde. I am very excited by this band.

Already really enjoyed Television Personalities and Courettes. Tickets for Shannon and the Clams and Cud gigs. My daughter is off to see Blur and Pulp along with my wife who'll see Primal Scream as well.

Television Personalities ... really?
Fund raiser for Dan Tracy in Hackney. Absolutely barn storming night as the rest of the band and former members performed their favourite tunes. They were joined on stage by loads of guests. It was great to hear three wishes belted out. At least a dozen different people sung lead and as many on guitar. Sax and violin on a few tunes too.

Dan Treacy. Sounds brilliant.

Just got back from Chuck Prophet at Hassocks.

Predictably excellent.

Going to see Arxx at Patterns this evening, utterly joyous local band who seems to be picking up a lot of good gigs at the moment. Saw them twice at The Great Escape this year.

Also catching The LoveGods at the Folklore Rooms tomorrow night a welcome return for one of this city's finest bands (well Deah and Arty at least) One of my all time fave Brighton bands and the one that broke me into our music scene after I had moved down from London at the end of the 90s.

Just got back from Download where Metallica yet again confirmed themselves as the greatest heavy metal band on the planet with two absolutely scintillating performances. Despite the horrendous traffic and high temperatures I really enjoyed my first visit to the festival, tons of cracking bands and a really friendly crowd.

Apparently the first Metallica night could be heard 15 miles away :lolol:

Bought tickets for PJ Harvey, 115 euros ouch.

I did read an article a few week back regarding the high cost of touring, and bands now have to decide whether to pass this onto the punter or pull the tour plans. For example tour buse hire is 3 times the price pre-pandemic.

Lucky them! They were magnificent, as good as I have ever seen them to be honest, and I first saw them in 1984!
Where was this? First time I saw them was 1985 at Donington Monsters of Rock. I remember they did a London gig some time before this though…possibly Lyceum ? Maybe Tank as support?

The very same. Lyceum Ballroom on the Ride the Lightening Tour not sure if Tank were there that night although I have definitely seen Tank at the Ballroom.
Metallica had also played at the marquee in Wardour St where they filled in for a cancelled Heavy Pettin' gig, a mate of mine from school went said it was genuinely painful!

I was down the front at the 85 MoR show too, excellent performance that seem to terrify the more mainstream crowd that year.

I saw them at Donington a few years later and also at Hammersmith on MoP and AJFA. After that I didn’t go again until Death Magnetic. This wasn’t any statement about the musical direction they then took, more I was getting into other music as I’d just gone to university.

I saw a number of bands at the Marquee including Slayers UK debut.

Good times.

I passed on her specifically because of the pricing. I can afford it, but can't justify it.

If acts are being hit by posts, they need to more imaginative. Two shows a night. Longer runs etc.
