Lion Hunter criticised for killing "beautiful" animal (her words)

You are getting two discussion confused here. Either we are talking about the morality of grinning inanely over the corpse of a beautiful animal or we are talking about my ideology and what it means to for the individual to act responsibly in relation to everyone and the world around them.

Either way you're placing your ideological views on the situation. You find them beautiful, I don't really think much of them. I'd not want to shoot one because to me they are shaggy mangy looking things.

In the end if the Africans don't like them much then it's not up to us westerners to tell them what to do with them.

You are asking me to use an example of one lion to justify my political outlook and ideology. Something which is obviously ridiculous.

You're the one who linked left wing to the lion in the first place.

So as a Libertarian do you believe nothing should be banned?

Minimal government interference is the goal.

No, it's to do with growing up in the country and living a different lifestyle to inner city wankers who love to pontificate to the world how the rest should live. These days they call them Greens voters.

So you shoot cats to survive?

Maybe this could be improved by a more equal sharing of the worlds wealth and the west paying African nations a fair price for their resources. This way they could earn a decent living without selling the rights to killing vulnerable animals by legal or illegal means.

Ah go talk to the African governments, they are the ones in control of their own resources. Plenty of wealth in Africa in the hands of Africans.

I grew up in the country and vote green. You can't blame where you grew up for your views.

You didn't grow up in country Australia did you?

God no! lived there for a while though, you end up with really warped ideas. Nothing to do but pig hunting, dancing to country music and shagging family members.

Still who am I to say these things are wrong.

Can't say I've ever heard of our country folk being touted as inbred. More respect for them out here. They grow the food, produce the top athletes. More adulation for them than negativity by far.

Their contribution to the nation far outweighs the inner city socialists that's for sure.

No, you've erradicated a non-native predator. So yes, you can just shoot it because they are vermin. Disease plays no part in reasoning for shooting them.

Vermin are pests or nuisance animals, especially those that threaten human society by spreading diseases or destroying crops and livestock.

What are these cats doing exactly for you to shoot them?

You have to understand The Truth that some Australians don't like anything that is not native to the country and see it as fair game to be treated in what ever sick or cruel way they see fit. The Europeans (as distinct from early white Australians) cause a lot of environmental damage to the country by introducing things.

Do tell us all, how exactly should we erradicate feral cats etc? Putting a bullet between a feral cats eyes in not "sick or cruel". What bullshit.

I wasn't referring to shooting feral cats. Just making a general point about the respect Australians have for animals that are not 'native'.

My father in law was a farmer though and he used to make sure there were always feral cats about.

What about the idiots who help create more deaths by making the black market the only option available?

You know, the ones who want to ban licenced hunting.

People who want to ban licensed hunting of endangered species are not idiots. Indeed they should be lauded. People who try and circumvent the laws or are corrupted into allowing it to happen, them's idiots too.
