He'll play as one of the front 3, so his competition is Kaz, Buckley, March and Rodriguez, not any of the others. IMO.
His preferred role is a central attacking midfielder,... he has played on the flanks, but I bet a condition of him going out on loan again ( which he didnt really want before he went to Brum ) is that he plays his preferred position,... I suspect Dale or Rodders may make way,... maybe from the bench..... it seems to be the Albion way.

I think the club said it was a turned ankle, but the Sagbo challenge probably lead to it.

I've just had a look in the Lingard Signing Gallery and in the penultimate photo you can see an enormous black fella in the background, looks like Ince is training. Hurrah!

I'd vote Rodriguez, if it was a poll of course.

If Oscar really is obsessed with attacking football this is a chance to demonstrate it. I would probably release a little bit of sex wee if we start with that line up.

Now I've been a critic of Oscar's over cautious approach but I dont think he'll play 4 out and out attackers in a million years! (only if we are 2-0 down after 87mins as others have said).

Best we can hope for is two up front and a solid midfield with maybe one winger. But more likely the usual 4-1-4-1 with Lingard replacing Rodriguez and if we're lucky a winger on the other flank rather than Lopez. Rodriguez has been utterly wasted in that wide role, hopefully that fate won't befall Lingard.

I'd go with a 4-2-3-1

----------PIG----------
Bruno Greer Upson Ward
-----Ince--Andrews----
March---Lingard--Orlandi
---------Ulloa----------

Then with Kaz, Buckley, Rodriguez as the impact subs if needed.

Ince Stephens
Buckley Lingard March

Subs: Walton, Bruno, Greer, Caskey, Orlandi, LuaLua, Obika

Is the team I'd LOVE to see start the game, obviously it won't be mind.

Now that is a team that'd win football matches. Go for it Oscar!

Funny old game isn't it. I wouldn't have Andrews anywhere near the starting Xl, certainly not if Stephens is available, IMO Andrews has looked utterly pony of late. All about opinions though :)

I see you drop Ankergren and Brezovan in favour of Walton. Can't argue with that.

Haven't been overly keen on Stephens since he's joined. With Lingard in an attacking role, that leaves a gap in the 3 in the middle so I think we would need another holding/defensive midfielder with Ince in the middle and Stephens seems to be more attacking than defensive.

You may be right, I just don't fully grasp this need for two defensive midfielders all of the time. I'd rather we put some trust in our back 4 and use some attack minded players, stopping goals isn't the issue it's scoring the ruddy things that seems to be our achilles heel.

Now that is a team I like the look of, only change I would make would be Lualua in one of the Buckley roles.
