How many people you reckon it would take to lift a double decker bus with half a dozen people on?

Just asking for a friend

Using an average of 80kg per person = 6 x 80 = 480kg

Weight of double decker = 10 tonnes or 10,000kg

Total weight = 10,480kg

Say the average person can lift 50kg and due to the awkwardness of the object.

I'd say 210 people but how they'd all manage to get a grip at the same time would be a feat.

How much would they be lifting if it weren't for the awkwardness?

It's a completely immovable object until everyone lifts together.

300.

That's just 1% of an Amex turnout, can we try it out?

Wonder if it's ever been done?

You'd need to build into this equation the impact of adrenaline. Even members of the fairer sex have been known to live a car when their child is underneath.

What if there was one person under the bus, a local resident, not a family member. How much adrenaline would that give and how many fewer people would it take then?

Are you proposing we get all of their children and put them under the bus?

No but the latest nonsense writer of an East End soap that has gone from being decent to totally bloody awful in the space of six months might just. They'll be writing a scene where a male character gets out of a shower and his wife tells him she has had a bad dream soon (credit Dallas!).

Remember watching a video from Japan I think of a train carriage being lifted to release person trapped underneath. The technique used was to have some lifting while others pushed against the side of the carriage causing it to tilt.
