OK I'll admit I was sceptical about this show but the second episide was f***ing HILARIO.

Quality scenes as Warwick turns up at the wedding with no Ewok outfit and is put into a costume made from a hollowed out smelly teddy. :lolol:

Thursday night is now my telly night of choice. The mildly amusing Rev, then LtS, then The Slap on BBC4. Top stuff.

I expected a lot more. Second episode not as funny as the first. Only really funny bit was when he had to dance like Michael Flatley.

Only heard about this by chance the other day, so only just caught with the first 2 episodes. Has been really funny though. Still got that David Brent style character coming through in Warwick and the rubbish Accountant was a bit too similar to Merchant playing the rubbish agent in Extras. Good to see them poking fun at themselves for getting Depp to say about him "only ever creating one character"

That second episode was just awful. Really dreadful. Johnny Depp just bombed, and as affable as Warwick Davis is, him being Ricky Gervais's mouth piece just doesn't work. Some of the dialogue/scenarios in that episode were, with a little tweaking, almost lifted directly from The Office or Extras.

I think its brilliant, the Liam Nesson stuff from episode one was classic, "I like making lists, thats why Spielberg offered me the part of Schindler'

And last week the local TV interview and the best man speech was laugh out loud stuff.

The Liam Neeson list bit was quality, but the best man's speech!?! How many times have you seen that done before? Hugh Grant was doing that in Four Weddings in a Funeral before most of the Amex JCLs were born.

Johnny Depp just bombed,

By far the best thing in the series so far. He was BEAUTIFULLY unsettling, and completely convincing, far more of a genuine performance than any of the celebs in Extras (although Shaun Williamson is excellent). But then Depp is one of the best actors in the world, so no big surprise there.

I do however agree that at times it is played a bit too much to formula, and I could see a fair few comments coming.

Well I've bitten my tongue about your hilarious "incredible support" comment after being shown up several times this season, so that's as good as it's going to get. :lolol:

I dont remember the test results and the barren bit in Four weddings?

Maybe it's just me - I loved The Office and Extras and generally love Gervais but this is one vehicle too far flogging the same horse and doing it quite badly imho. I'm surprised that anyone could have found the angry TV presenter or the bridegroom characters amusing.

I agree that there is a lot of dialogue and similar characters from the previous Gervais/Merchant offerings and after the fist episode wondered if perhaps this would be one step too far for the tried and tested formula HOWEVER the second episode was HILARIOUS. So what if you can see some of the jokes coming? They were still funny, and delivered well. Those squeamish moments of awkward embarrassment which Gervais has made his bread and butter do still work, and work well.

Plus, it doesn't matter how many times they do it, Warwick Davis falling out of his giant 4x4 is consistently guffawingly funny.

I genuinely laughed OUT LOUD (LOL'd if you will) on Thursday and am very much looking forward to the next one.

I thought it was very funny. Especially the 2nd. What I like about Depp, is that he 'gets' British humour. I'm also thinking about his cameo in The Fast Show.
Warwicks 'thick' secretary is great. I like the way she sits there open-mouthed staring into space.

Johnny Depp is excellent.

I saw him on a talk show with Ricky Gervais a few weeks ago, talking about Life's Too Short. Gervais couldn't stop going on about how sick and twisted Depp's humour was. Apparently during the scene in which Warwick is in the toilet for Depp's amusement, the Caribbean Pirate declares off camera "you don't mind if I masturbate to this do you?"

I REALLY hope that's true
