Very sad, I agree.

I very much regret not travelling when I was younger. My daughter is off on her Gap Yah (6 months actually) shortly and we are very envious.

The plan is to eventually sell the house, buy a massive f*** off Winnebago and travel the World

I can't f***ing wait

Actually, the picture is even worse than I painted.
She's lived in the same house all her life!

I feel depressed for her because she literally doesn't know what she's been missing?
The holiday question is a good one ... and the answer is rarely does she go away on hols, and when she does it's never ever outside the UK, and always to the same little place on the Norfolk Broads.

She says she's happy ... but I feel sad for her because she genuinely doesn't know what she's been missing all these years?

All the children and grandchildren have tried to persuade her to come away with them to somewhere different .... and every attempt has been met by refusal?

Each to their own I guess, but I find that quite sad?

I think thats a generational thing. My grandparents and even parents/Aunties/Uncles etc did not venture much outsude Brighton & Hove. People didn't. There was no commuting, certainly not on the scale today, so majority of people lived near where they worked.

Factor in that most working class kids never went to University, then you have kids going to school, leaving school to work and live all in the same town.

Plus, i guess there was a tendncy to have kids earlier in life, so most people settled down earlier.

Thats my dream of retirement. Get a massive RV and initially tour North America (Canda and US). I have even (in my head) worked out the route.

Fair do's. Like someone else said think its a generation thing.

Personally i love travelling and have lived in sevearl different places whilst at Uni and working abroad, but nothing beats for me living in Brighton now.

Agree 100% ... clearly a generational thing.

I'm gonna giveaway my generational thing now ... because I'm gonna give a different view to your's on living there?
I find that when I come back to Brighton to see my Mum or BHA or whatever reason, it just doesn't feel the same place to me anymore?

Maybe it's because I'm older, and old gits always think this kinda way .... but in the old days Brighton as a City (or Town as it was then) seemed so much better than it does now?

If I moved back, I might have a different view, but I do come back on a regular basis so I do see a lot of the place ... and it just don't feel the same!!
