I also enjoy the more subtle jokes, and having been raised on a tv diet of old westerns in the 70's probably makes a difference. Pretty much everyone of every generation has some knowledge of the subject parodied in Life of Brian, so I guess anyone under 50 is more likely to prefer Life if Brian.

Went to the Dome in Worthing to see a double header of Life of Brian and Airplane -excellent stuff.

To the original question prefer Life of Brian but Blazing Saddles is still a great film.
