I find there offers/app not worthwhile or too much hassle..as I’m busy loading my bags before they disappear off the two foot of counter space allocated to the ‘bagging area’…give me Clubcard points like Tescos any day of the week

On a side note I’ve always found the cashiers at the Shoreham Lidl a good bunch

You don't bag at the till. You put it all back in your trolley and then use the shelf provided to pack, away from the tills. Speed is the key, so more customers can be served.

The savings from using Lidl or Aldi are still huge imho. I got lazy during the pandemic and used the likes of Sainsbury's, when our spend was £ 3-figures more per month than now.

We do still buy a few fussy things from the others.

Agreed. We do ( or actually I do ) 90% of our shop at Aldi Portslade and then the remainder at Sainsburys West Hove. I did try to do it all at Sainsburys a couple of times out of laziness but their "Aldi Price Match" is an utter con and half their shelves are empty.

For a short while I costed it up, just to see. It was something like £600 per month using Lidl and special bits from Sainsbury's.

Versus £750 just using the big supermarkets.

I'd rather spend the £1,800 annually on nice things. And Aldi/Lidl food's really nice.

I’m a very fast and efficient bagger (just 2 bags required for my Lidl shop)…payment card at the ready ….i avoid those awkward stares by those who want to break yesterdays record shopping run by .00000001 of a second

It’s never really been made clear to the British, but having used Lidls in Germany & France, it works well there.

Big generalisation and quite inaccurate.

I have a home near Bordeaux and find little need to spend 'good money', simply use a 'little knowledge'.

It really isn't. St Emillion Grand Cru? Might as well have Horsham Grand Cru. It means nothing.

You can’t just open and drink a St Emillion, needs to be opened a good hour before drinking

Actually used to that but Ocado do some decent voucher offers, start as a new customer and they shower you with them. Some nice M&S stuff, cheaper than eating out
