I doubt very much that was there intention....millwall played well and seemed up for it..we on the other hand were well off the pace

We were, because they had one eye on staying fit and available for Sunday. Fully expected it to be difficult today and us not to perform for that exact reason

Always been a decent player at this standard, usually chips in with a few goals per season too. Missed a sitter at the New Den if I remember rightly though?
Tonight was the best player on the pitch, so strong and always in control.

He was aloud to roam around and link up all their good work,We felt Gus got the selection wrong tonight and this game was always suited better for Adam as he would have broken up his play.

I wouldn't have put the blame all down to the centre defence as the centre midfield didn't win a lot either. The main thing is the boys and Gus should learn by this as this and i am sure we will not be so limp against Liverpool.

How we could do with a Trotter in our side. He brushed off Bridcutt and Navarro as if they weren't there. Powerful in the air, in the tackle, always looking for space, happy to run at the oppo, and quick to boot. Just what WE needed last night. Only guy on the pitch who stood out (literally) head and shoulders above the rest.

I thought that he had a good game last night because we didn't have anybody to match him but is he a man we should sign, I dont think so I am more excited by the prospect of getting Razak of Man City on loan who appears to be a similar type player. Given the chance I would sooner we signed somebody like Lawrence of Portsmouth or Chapelow of Southampton but not on mega wages.

Was Adam el-Abd on the pitch?

There's your answer.
You know what, I think you are spot on here. In hindsight, El Abd should have played that game at centre half. I don't think GP foresaw his two starting centre backs acting like complete pussies when Trotter was running at them.

I thought he was excellent for them last night. Big, strong and quick too.

Good job for us that he was pants when it mattered. Our guys were all shitting themselves every time he had the ball-definitely looked like a case of "f*** that, I'm not challenging him in case I get injured ahead of Sunday". AEA wouldn't have been so charitable and it shows how important he is to us

We all saw what was happening so why didnt Gus and bring on El Abd for one of them, that is the worry.

They are probably also used to AeA taking responsibility for a player like that and successfully defending.
For me, he is what we miss when he's out of the team.
The more the others get used to his attention to what's going on and by who - the worse it becomes when he's not there.

Best player on the pitch by a mile but is he a Gus player?

I think not, but he would certainly be a good signing if we could get him.

Must admit I was quite amused that South-East London's 'finest' have a player called Trotter...

Was also quite impressed with Scott Barron - useful little player who can take a mean corner.

To be fair, Millwall overall were much better than I expected - organised, physically strong and resilient, and dangerous on the break.

He was excellent for about 75 minutes and then he simply ran out of puff. he found the last 15 minutes to be very difficult
