Because the manager didn’t think he was Premier League standard. The fact that Duffy was our major signing in the 2016 summer window and has never been dropped for Goldson in 2 seasons tells you that CH didn’t think he was quite good enough.

Goldson is a stylish defender that will shine in the Scottish premiership, where the majority of his opponents will be lower half Championship standard.

I am not sure that's true. I very much doubt CH thought he wasn't good enough. But we had a rock solid, well proven and highly successful CB partnership in place and that was always going to make it extremely difficult for anyone else to get a chance. Hunemier was also a very classy player who wasn't getting game time.
It was just bad luck for both of them to be stuck behind one of the best, and injury free, CB pairings outside the top six. Doesn't mean they weren't good enough. Both acted like professionals while here and the club did the right thing in letting them go and play elsewhere.

We are just going round in circles you have your views and I have mine we shall just have to wait and see what happens and who turns out to be right.

Come on BG. Its an opinion as to whether we need 4 centre backs and whether Liam Moore or anyone is the right player. Its certainly not a view or opinion that Hughton has already bid for him and is still interested in him. Its been reported in multiple places all summer. As has our interest in Jack O Connell.

Brighton Bid for Liam Moore - Sky http://www.skysports.com/football/n...-improved-bid-for-reading-defender-liam-moore
Albion increase bid for Liam Moore - Argus http://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/16325380.albion-increase-bid-for-reading-defender-liam-moore/
and Reading Chronicle etc http://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/s...rtedly-abandoned-their-pursuit-of-liam-moore/

I am not disputing any of that what I am disputing is the price which is pure conjecture on here. We could have offered £3m and then upped it in stages to £5m which would account for it being rejected,. Reading say £15m hence we havent signed him.

Dear BG,

No...
You are just posting nonsense again!...
I said we had made bids for Moore, and these have been rejected, and that this info was in the public domain...
You then denied this...
You are wrong (again)... as proved by CJ's post and links...

Please please stop digging... you are just embarrassing yourself further... thank you...

BW.

Nuts isn't it.....2 weeks left, and we're almost done. Remarkable.
Looks like the lessons have been learned...

If the Iranian CB looks good and is on a free-why not? He knows Alireza and between them they'll make The Albion Iran's adopted club.

A truly remarkable transformation of our football club.

We need british players and you pay a premium price for them.

8 HGP's, and we have 7 plus Oliver N & Sam B, so... assuming they both depart, we need one more HGP...

I will, taking into account my previous view that we do not need to spend big money on a CB but just pointing that as is usual it will be undisclosed. No doubt somebody ITK will post a probable price that we paid.
