He missed a penalty in the shootout. He is never a right back but a decent ball playing centre back. He was average at best last season but that's not saying much as they were all atrocious. He won player of the year though but he wasn't my choice.

Just hope naylor is right on this one - totally uninspiring
We’ve beaten Man Utd, Arsenal and drawn with spurs..... do we really need a defender who played for a championship side that very nearly got relegated?

Sounds like we have enquired how much he would cost if Rangers were to stump up for Goldson, but haven't made a bid because they haven't found enough cash for Connor yet.

The original Twitter from Sam Rourke was that we had made an enquiry, so, you are probably right.

We signed Gaetan Bong from a Championship side who *did* get relegated.

I'd be surprised seeing as he is as highly rated as Dunk was at that level. Reading said that he would only be sold on their terms.

We wouldn't spend £15m+ on a second choice defender.

So perhaps he wouldn’t be second choice...

Agree with that. We have to cover our backs if players do go.

Two summers ago, Burnley made a £3 million double swoop for Charlton pair Johann Berg Gudmundsson (£2.5m) and Nick Pope (£500k). Charlton had just been RELEGATED to League One. Gudmundsson is going to the World Cup next month after being voted BFC's second best outfield player last season after Steven Defour. Pope is also going to the World Cup after winning Player of the Year. Burnley would make a huge profit if these two were sold.

Also in 2013 when Burnley were absolutely skint, they signed Tom Heaton on a free after his Bristol City side had just been RELEGATED to League One, conceding a whopping 84 goals. Since joining BFC, Heaton has played 4 times for England and is on standby for World Cup after unluckily losing his place in the squad through injury. If he was sold, Burnley would bank an eight-figure fee.

Proves you can get massive bargains from poorly-performing teams.

Exactly - Pascal Gross (relegated from Bundesliga), Shane Duffy (ex Blackburn about to be relegated to L1) Goldson (ex L2), Stephens (ex struggling Charlton in Champ) - let alone Murray, Wood, Vokes, Cook and the like.

Relegated and nearly relegated teams usually contain a few players of quality.

Just one example, the Hull 2016/17 team contained Maguire, Niasse, Clucas and Robertson. Good to exceptional players in there.

Do you think Heston will stay?

Reasonable goalie, but Pope looks so assured, and if he has aspirations of international football then he’ll need to play.

It was a penalty, could’ve happened to anyone.

He put in some huge performances towards the end of this season... he got a perfect 10 rating on Who Scored for the Preston win, won something like 20 aerial duels.

Thing is, he really tried to push the move through to us because he wasn’t getting regular football at Leicester in the Prem. I imagine he will want to go somewhere where he won’t sit on the bench.
