Brighton are closing in on the signing of Derby striker Liam Dickinson, skysports.com understands.

Dickinson looks set to leave Derby this summer with the player well down the pecking order at Pride Park and the club looking to trim their squad.

Norwich have had two bids rejected for 23-year-old, but now Brighton have entered the race and are close to agreeing a fee with Derby for the former Stockport hit-man.

Dickinson's agent, Phil Sproson, has confirmed Brighton are in talks with Derby and a deal could be done in the near future.

"There is a strong interest from Brighton in Liam and talks are ongoing," Sproson told skysports.com.

"The two clubs are trying to agree a fee and I don't think they are too far apart.

"Liam wants to be playing regular first-team football and he knows his chances at Derby will be limited so he is hoping a deal can be agreed with Brighton."

First team football? Oh well, that's Murray off then.

the replacement for Murray possibly - hence we can afford to pay the fee (got to be £400Kish once all the add-ons are included)

Look how little Murray and Forster played together last season though. If that is anything to go by, we could do with one more joing them as it's unlikely they'll both play every game

Or we START with Murray and Dickinson. Forster is not fit yet, old, and would make a tremendous sub - like in the Stockport game

would have to agree with that

On the face of it good news, however when agents are directly quoted it becomes a bit fishy, lets hope the agent isn't trying to generate further interest.

Sounds very positive, he's got a decent scoring record at this level and championship level , if you forget Leeds where he was apparently booed after one miss.(ala davies)

Good work.

Be good to have him. How good is he though ? Not had look in at Derby and couldnt score for leeds. Scored 1 in 3 in League 2 .

6ft 4 so that is a major plus.

I think a good signing, surely worth 15 goals a season ?

Unsure he is the 20 + striker though

Think Dickinson was still at Stockport when Murray was on loan so they may of played together already. The McNulty,Dicker,Tunicliffe situation will help him bed in if we do sign him.:falmer:
