OK thinking about it - last week my view was it was Foster and Murray who let us down not Virgo. Maybe the new era starts now - we have to get a goalscorer who takes the chances that come along, mayeb Holroyd gets on, maybe Dick gets into socring mode, lets hope it works out straight away

It's a HUGE game.

Is it really? How many "HUGE" games do we have each year (and often lose)? We label all these games as massive, put so much pressure on the team, so much stock in the result, then nothing much changes.

We have a game (or two) in hand over the five teams above us. After today there's a further 54 points available this season.

If we lose today and go down by three points, why is today's failure the key one? why not a loss at some other point this season?

I think we're putting too much stock in one game's result.

How will the players react?

Apparently anywhere between 9 and 13 are out of contract. What does this say to them? If you dare think about your future we'll drop you? Are those 9-13 players going to respond to a "the fans think it's all fozzy, let's show them that this team isn't a one man team, go out there and give your all!"-type pre-match speech? Will they want to help the club prove itself bigger than an out-of-contract player when most of them are out of contract?

This will be a big test of the motivation skills of big Gus! Can he bring the team together with the events of yesterday or are we seeing the start of the disintegration of any sort of team spirit?

Desperate for three points and we drop our best player to make a point. I am starting to think Gus doesn't have what it takes to manage a team.

Poyet has, with El Abd, already shown that a player can persuade him to offer a new contract at any time.

How do you know he's dropping him to make a point? In all likelihood Forster's head is not in the right frame of mind and could disturb the rest of the squad, hence he is not in the squad.

Yes, Forster is one of our best players (if not THE best) but he is just one player and Poyet has to think about the whole group and how they will respond to an unhappy player amongst them on match day.

to be fair Forster had a bad game last week so maybe his mind was on it.

However, very dissapointing and very Brighton !

He was poor in our last game, after 3 games in ten days he probably needed a rest anyway.

Agree with both. Had Fozzie had his shooting boots on last week, we would have beaten Millwall IMO.
