Obviously stats like these are all part of why we know Lewis is so good. But him and Webster being at the top of that list is more to do with RDZ tactics than anything else. You put any decent centre back in an RDZ team and the numbers for this stat will go through the roof.

Was just going to say, the Dunk to Webster/Colwill and back again is a fairly key component to the way we play

Still massively underrated. One of our best and most important players.

Yeah unless I'm misreading this it isn't simply passes- he got close to 100 of those in a match recently IIRC. It's linebreaking, progressive, forward passes.

Dunk alongside Lawrenson as centre-back in an all time Albion XI. Pretty much beyond debate now.

Probably also belongs in an all time "Criminally overlooked by England managers XI" with Matt Le Tissier.
Well yes and as much as I advocated for Le Tissier, everyone could see there were obvious reasons not to pick him. With Dunk, there is no excuse. England are obviously weak in that part of the pitch and every objective measure as well the glaring evidence in front of our eyes says that he is England's best central defender.

…..just another day at the office.

That recovery tackle is probably the best bit of defending you’ll see, not just this season but in many seasons. There is no margin for error, not only does he cleanly win the ball but he comes away with it and we retain possession. World class as the commentary says.

He's incredible now. He was always great. Always a better passer than neutrals realised. Always a warrior for us. But he is simply on another level. His confidence. He even seems quicker, guess that's experience.

PS he should be a shoe in for the Team of The Year..no doubt it'll be Van Dijk and Tiago.
