£5 Million is a very good price for a defender who only really played a quarter of a season in the Championship.
'If' we were to sell him, it would be good to get another £1 Million worth of installments. ie; Future England Caps and 100 appearances etc

Anyone know how long his contract is? If he is only on another year, then we need to get shot whilst any decent offers are out there, or we may end up losing him on a free. This would be pure profit to invest in some better players in other positions. Steve Cook can do a job, at least until El Abd is back.
Selling players is not necessarily an indication of a loss of ambition. Astute buying and selling will be one of the routes to improve the squad to get us to the promised land.

AGREED! just look at Reading. They don't buy big. sold Doyle and Long for good prices after signing them for sweet FA and signed le Fondre to replace Long this year. Money well invested atm! Reading were very close last year as well... they will be playoff contenders this year i believe.

Indeed. Why would anyone trust "Rugrat" just because he says so?

The fact that Dunk has been watched by big clubs has not been a secret for quite some time. If 4 or 5 of the biggest 10 clubs in the country think he can do a job in the top half of the Premiership, then we'll get a lot more than £5m and he will indeed go.

I can't see anyone snapping him up until the summer. I am sure all the big boys would want a full season in the champ to see if he is up to it. I have not doubt he is. He seeems to have everything a quality centre half needs. Also with injuries in that position we really need to keep hold of him.

If we get a GOOD offer and he wants to take that next step, let him go in the summer when we can sign a replacement. Not January

Seem to have got into a habit of selling players for undervalue (Bennett and Crofts) so hopefully we are able to turn into a bit of an auction and get top dollar. Who knows sell in January for £5 mill (if Mills is worth that Dunk has to be) or so and get him back on loan until the summer.

according to arsene wenger over the years players go for more money in the january window than the summer one as teams have less time to sign replacements etc. thats why he hates dealing in the january window...

but then wenger is weird and signed walcott for 15ish million and arshavin for a similar price. both rubbish players these days... oh and both signed in the january window... should have given himself that advice maybe. doh!

I was speaking to a good mate of Dunk's who was in the Brighton youth team with him a few years ago at the weekend. He said Dunk is loving life in the first team at the Amex and no way would be want to leave his home town club to sit on a bench somewhere else.

I can see us being tempted with a bid of £2.5 million with add ons, hopefully not through. Because there is still no sign of El-Abd coming back and with Elphick out for the rest of the season, we're extremely short at the back. Hopefully Gus is looking to strengthen at the back, with the loan market still open. Because we can't afford to wait untill January.

Dunk is good but not £5million good. I would take that at a drop of a hat.

Is he that much better than Greer? I dont think so. Better than El Abd and Elphick yes.

If the top clubs wanted to spend £5million on a Championship centre back, they need look no further than Sol Bamba at Leicester, he was amazing. Better performance than anything Dunk has done this season.

Also at times against Millwall Dunk looked like a kid when he had the ball and didnt know what to do, was too relient on trying to get the ball back to Casper instead of taking it forward

If the price is anything around the 4-5 million mark take it and re-invest. Everyone can see we need a new left back and more bite in midfield. If we sold him in jan and got a loan move back to us till the end of the season even better.

For your sake, For Dunk's sake and for all Championship Clubs.

Tell them to f*** off.

It'll ruin his career as it does so many others.

He needs 50+ Championship games under his belt so when he moves up to the Prem (either with you or elsewhere), he has the ability to start straight away rather than having to rot for years.

f*** the Premiership. Stealing players and f***ing careers up,
