They were all over Kingstonian - especially in the first half. They had a header cleared off the line and the follow up from the resulting corner come down off underside of the crossbar. It could have been 6-1 by half time.
The goal itself came after Lewes' No8 (don't know their names) beat the right back on the wing, crossed inch perfect for No9 to get not the best header but a strong enough one for the keeper (salad dodger to the Lewes fans) to fumble it over the line.
The Ks came back into it a bit more, and the second half was more even. Lewes were unquestionably the better team throughout, and the only surprise was the meage 1-0 win. It should have been much more.
Marvelous scenes at the end. The vast majority of the 1,062 crowd went home happy.
GET IN!! A great day at the Pan. They dominated the game from start to finish and I think that with a few additions to the squad they could well survive in Conference South. Great game, good beer and some FIT barmaids. I think I might make a few more games next season!
Went there as well. I met Lewes Cliff who was friendly. A great game I spent the first half at the end oppisite the newish stand. Spent the second half watching from the clubhouse window. Then I went back to where I watched the first half in the last 20 minutes. A great match and great scenes at the end.
Well done Lewes
P.S Lewes catering staff were wonderful, they did some really nice Pukka Pies. I feel they deserve some praise.
AS we won today the Rymans League our know doubt drawing up plans as we speak that Lewes have got to play some other team with only five players tomorrow just to stop us going up.
Lewes Rymans League Division 1 South Champions and now in the Conference South.
