Lewes FC manager banned from football for SIX MONTHS!

This is the most outrageous piece of stupidity by the FA ever! And, as I'm sure we all agree, they have some track record.

From the Sussex Express website:-

Rooks' boss King faces six-month ban

LEWES Football Club manager Steven King is to appeal against a Football Association ban that would exclude him from all football matters for nearly six months.

King was charged with a breach of FA rules for using abusive and insulting words to an official during the Weymouth v Lewes match on April 29 last season.

At the FA hearing on June 22 King was suspended from all football until December 31 and fined £500. The ban is due to come into force on Monday, July 17, if the appeal is heard by then and fails.

An FA spokesman said: 'Under the ban Mr King can only attend matches as a spectator. This is a total ban from all football matters, it also includes coaching and training sessions. It was Mr King's seventh case of serious misconduct in 25 months.'

Lewes chairman Terry Parris said: 'The club is staggered by this news and we will give our manager 100 per cent backing in his appeal. We will await the outcome and then consider any further action, the sentence is the most severe I have ever heard of.'

King has spent the summer compiling a squad that are favourites to win the Nationwide Conference South league title next season.

As revealed in the Express a month ago Anthony Storey is returning to the club from Eastbourne Borough after finally agreeing financial terms while Jamie Cade, on loan from Crawley last season, has also signed a deal. Midfielder Gary Holloway has moved over from Aldershot.

Also joining the club are Paul Booth from Cambridge City, Ian Simpemba from Crawley, Lewis Hamilton from Aldershot and Jay Saunders and Andy Drury, both from Gravesend & Northfleet.

What else is he supposed to have actually done/said? It must have been quite bad, you surely wouldn't get that for 'abusive and insulting words'. Crazy.

Sorry, Lord B, I can't have much sympathy with someone up before the beak seven times in two years.

fine or touchline ban would be fine - but a total ban for 6 mths is unbelievable.
I bet premier managers abuse refs all the time, but I can't see them getting into this strife. Warnocks makes a point of attacking refs all the time and yet I don't remember him being banned from coaching etc!!!

I can see why the sentance is so harsh but how many times to you see high profile managers in the prem or championship doing the same and it never gets mentioned (Warnock, Allardyce, Murhino etc etc).....one rule for one, one rule for another

I was at the game and it all looked pretty innocuous at the time.

King was sent from the dug out for complaining about the referees decision to send off Legge, following a reckless tackle on Weymouth's Raphael Nade, which led to the "bundle" in front of the dug out.

I've been in the opposite dugout to him on a few occasions and I can't have any sympathy for him at all. He's a legend in his own mind. Theres a bloke at Hailsham called Kenny McCreadie who's as bad. Funnily enough they are both Scottish!

Still going to win the Conference South this season whether we have Kingy in charge or not. Cash will take over for them six months less hopefully if appeal goes his way allowing King to take the reigns over for final part of the season.

If he hasn't learned to control himself after being up in front of the beak on 6 previous occasions in the last 2 years, then I can't really see how he can have any grounds for complaint now they've finally hammered him.

I wouldn't take it for granted. Eastleigh will definately give you a run for your money.
