LEWES FC BEER FESTIVAL TODAY
FRIDAY 26 FEBRUARY 2010
The Rook Inn is hosting Lewes Football Club's inaugural beer festival this evening.
A number of new and familiar ales will be on tap, brewed both locally and farther afield, and a special selection of gourmet food will be available too.
All the ales will be on sale at £2.50 per pint, and the entry price of £5 includes a souvenir pint glass which is being produced exclusively for the occasion.
Some of the beers making an appearance include:
Dark Star Brewing Co, Horsham: Porter (5.5%) - a full flavoured beer brewed to an old established recipe using a blend of black and brown malts.
Northumberland Brewery, Bedlington: Legends of the Tyne (4%)
Lytham Brewery, Lytham St Annes: Royal (4.4%) - a fuller bodied English ale with a crisp, fruity aroma and a smooth, dry finish
Sawbridgeworth Brewery, Herts: SelhurstPark Flyer (3.8%) - amber coloured, easy drinking session bitter with a crisp edge
Rectory Ales, Hassocks: Rector's Revenge (5%)
Rectory Ales, Hassocks: Light Relief (4.5%)
Harveys will of course be well represented whilst the club are still hoping to source a number of other brews.
The club hopes to run similar events over the coming months if this event proves a success, so come down to the Dripping Pan and show your support for the Rooks - as well as having a few pints into the bargain.
The Festival kicks off from 5pm and tickets priced £5 (£6 on the door) are available from the Gardners Arms in Cliffe High Street, the Snowdrop in South Street, and Lewes Tourist Office.
p.s. Not sure if there will be a bargain basement reduction for Sawbridgeworth's product...
