why dont the locals buy the pub out from the brewery, loke some folks did in Scotland? (strains of 'you dont know what youre doing'..)

The Lewes Arms didn't sell Harvey's when it was the brewery tap.

My grandad took me in there about 50 years ago, and just about every other pub in Lewes come to think of it.
