I don't mean the team. Yesterday we gave an excellent account of ourselves against one of the better teams currently playing in the world. We were never embarrassed, overrun or made to look second rate. If ever there was a moment when I have though 'and exhale - this is going well' since we moved into the Amex, that moment was yesterday.

However, when I pop on NSC today what do I see?

People talking about half and half scarves as if this is the start of the slippery slope and the end of civilisation as we know it.

People consumed with hatred for hub-cab stealing self-pitying scousers who (nudge nudge) deserve blame rather than sympathy for Hillsborough

People who swear they once saw yesterday's ref frolicking with Klopp in a 1970s german gay porn film

People who think that Salah is simply an Islamic version of haha, and should be shot

People......exhale, relax, get over it. You're letting yourselves down, your club down and your families down with such tin-pottery, division three-style anger and status-envy.

As I stated on another thread from a 9-1 net score last season to just a 2-0 net score now is progress for us.

Well said HWT, the bile against the Scousers is a bit embarrassing, imo. Friend got a few decisions wrong, as did the south linobut, on the whole Liverpool just about deserved the win,although I thought we played with tenacity and determination.
If we keep improving as we have this season, the future is very bright.

Dear oh dear oh dear.....every sinew in my body was screaming with frustration....why can't some people forget about Crystal Palace for one tiny millisecond of their lives and concentrate on what really matters ( although, it appears that the only thing that matters to them is Crystal Palace ) and that is talking about our game, our performance, how we were set up, changes we made, mistakes we made, plus points, negative points, improvement, are we moving forward?, could we have done better etc etc.
There is only one thing that I concentrate on and that is BHA. When I leave games, I am consumed by what I have just seen and that is all I want to talk about and think about. Yesterday, all the talk in the car was about Liverpool and BHA. Comparison, discussion and to some extent a degree of disappointment that, in a fairly tight game, we had a glimmer of hope of getting something against a very good side but had come up a little short in ambition and creativity. Cue....that comment.....cue....car full of groans....cue....realisation that fans are leaving our ground whooping and hollering in delight that Palace had lost.
I hate losing any game and yesterday, despite fairly low, pre-match expectations, I was still hurting at the end. Rivalry is fine, obsession to the exclusion of everything else, isn't. I suppose I should realise that I am fighting a losing battle but wouldn't it be agreeable to have one minute/hour/day/week on NSC when a mention of ' Palace ' doesn't crop up.

Absolutely correct HWT. Instead of concentrating on a result that could quite easily have given Albion a point the conversations moved into sillyness - late night alcohol? I was really pleased with our display yesterday ( much as I was at Anfield in fact) and was looking forward to more positive posts. I gave up in the end

So much embarrassing bitterness on here, makes me cringe.

We played well against a brilliant team and made them look a bit average. The press and pundits are bound to put that down to a Liverpool off day as that is their choses narrative/their opinion. Why are we getting so bent out of shape about their reaction? Why are we getting outraged about their coach, half and half scarves, etc etc?

Outrage is many a person's default setting these days I suppose. The irony is that the reaction on here since the game runs along the same lines as the evil Match of the Day narrative being complained about.

Live and let live... and lets move on to the other monster in the wardrobe Man United.

I agree with this and several other posters on this thread. We need to reflect on the positives of our team and pay no attention to the rest of it.... That's what supporters of the 'big clubs' generally do!

The bickering was tedious.

Still today is another day. Pleased I've got my West Brom ticket.

During the match itself all Albion fans seemed really up for it, roaring all forays into LFC’s half, won corners and throw ins, cheering LFC mistakes and exploding at the officials.

There was never any resigned glumness that we were being outclassed or anger with the Albion players/Hughton’s tactics. (Other than an a ridiculous explosion against Stephens).

Overall a positive experience, narrowly beaten by a top 6 team, our performance light years ahead of the same fixture last season.


Then leave it a couple of hours as the hangovers kick in, and a load of posters start their predictable bad-losers bile towards all things Merseyside, whilst some others start condemning some Albion players and CH’s approach. Completely at odds with the positivity during the match itself and the general mood at 4.55pm.
