Actually, FB, now we're mentioning it. Didn't the announcer say "fitba" - I thought that was the accepted pronunciation north of the border?
Fitba's regional. Not all Scots say it. In Central Scotland you will often hear 'footie' (with the 't' pronounced, not dropped like the English tend to), as on this occasion. Indeed, pronunciation of 'fitba' itself is hotly disputed. Scots Wikipedia has 'fitbaa'; most people I know would say 'fitbaw'. But fitba's common enough.
