It comprised of one paragraph of what you like then a page of slagging off and moaning about left wingers. Left wingers are the ones who fought for social and workers rights for and by the people who built Britain. It was people fighting for left wing ideals that fought and died in two world wars, it is lefties who continually campaign and fight for people's freedoms and human rights across the globe. Human rights is not just having a telly in your prison cell you know! A very ill thought out thread from the start.
And I said "improve for the better" in which is being open minded.Im giving my opinion on many lefties that do my nut in that's all. :)
Yes it's also these people that fight for the rights of serial killers or murderers that are treated badly...difference of opinions that's all.

If I wer to analyse why my politics lean towards the left it would be this.

I grew up in a very working class fairly poor family. My mother for many years worked with handicapped adults and children and through that I see it as the duty of the able bodied people to do whatever we can to ensure that those people are looked after. Otherwise they are maginalised and taken advantage of or at the very minimum disregarded by society.

I think you could call it having concerns for others as well as myself. My mother never got financially wealthy due to the work she did but she got rich in terms personally well being for the work she did.

I on the other hand eventually did a job which brought financial reward but I know for sure that comparing my riches to her riches. She won hands down.

I consider myself very left wing and very much disagree on the point about having no pride in where I'm from. Most of my criticisms of this country (and there are a lot of them) come from a place of wanting to see things improved for the people that live here - I want Britain to be 'Great' but i think maybe the big left/right split occurs in the difference of opinion over what makes Britain - or any country for that matter - 'Great'.

Well, whatever your intention you come across as an ignoramus who enjoys provoking people. Well done Sir.

Crime is another interesting one.

A right winger would like to see a burglar strung up from the nearest lampost and stoned to death.

A left winger would want to send the burglar to embroidery classes, find out why they wanted to become a burglar and defend the burglars human rights.

You are spot on - However, that's because left wing people realise that the perpetrators of crime need d to be rehabilitated as well as punished , if only to try and ensure that more people do not fall foul of that very same burglar

My Dad's generation were miners, steel, transport workers etc. They tended to be left wing (socialist) - but they never asked nor sought
anything on a plate nor whinged or moaned.
They probably voted Labour at a guess, out of tradition rather than conviction in most cases, but if you fired a few probing questions at the average coal or steel worker, they wouldn't be too far off Winston Churchill in their position in the political spectrum....

Churchill was despised by South Wales miners and generally in South Wales for sending the army in to break up strikes

BARBARIC but true

Find out why he became a burglar and try and learn how to stop others following the same path, THEN STONE him to death.

Perhaps criminals that serve time come out on time when well behaved....personally I would like stiffer sentencing and longer terms to discourage....Example £1000 fine minimum for driving whilst using a mobile phone.....soon see less people using them whilst driving.

So would my view points be regarded as right wing or am I really thinking of the majority of people and as a result the victims too by suggesting longer stiffer sentencing.....if I am then I am right wing.

Prevention not cure.

I am all for tougher sentencing if I thought it would work and not be unfair on the poorer in society. For instance your point on making £1000 fine for those texting whilst driving. That would work for sure. The rich would possibly pay the fine and never do it again. The poor couldn't afford the fine and would then be jailed for not paying the fine and you would have kids whos mothers and fathers end up in jail because they were poor. Those children then have periods in their lives with no mother or father to keep them on the straight and narrow, possibly then resulting in them following into other crimes.

I don't have a solution. If we did then we could solve all these issues but they are very difficult to solve. So I wouldn't class you as right wing for having that view. Its a good view to have but the practicalities are not so straight forward.
