Would anyone agree to raise money for the club we should turn one home game into a money spinner for the club.
Every season one game should be elected and all home fans should pay around £100 a ticket. That is including season ticket holders who will not be eligible for that match.
The club does earn on average
6000 *( average £20)=£120,000
It could earn in a one off match
6000* £100= £600,000

That would get the club£480,000 more every season which would get us 3 good loan players a year at least.
£100 is not a lot of money once a year but it would really help the club which would bring us much joy and sucess.
If you think about it when you go to an away game you probablly spend more than £100 in the day so i cant see a reason why not.

Season ticket holders will moan but if they trully love the club and want it to suceed then they will approve of this scheme.

At the end of the day it is only one game a season for home fans only this will not apply to away fans who will pay the normal price.

Not sure there would be 6000 people willing to pay 100 quid to watch a Brighton game, even if the money was for a good cause. Maybe something like £50 would be more reasonable.

Even £50 would raise a lot of money but maybe not enough.
£70 would raise £300,000 extra, just under £6000 per week.Could easilly fund a couple of Premiership loan players for a year.

So how would this be arranged and who would we get to play?

I think you'd end up with an attendence of about thirteen people (including stewards).

Look, many of us would LOVE to throw money at the club, but the financial reality for most fans is that we have families, bills, financial commitments that have to take priority. Personally, having lashed out £400+ for a season ticket, I'd feel pretty pissed off at having to stump up another £100 to watch ONE match. With your scheme, I'd end up missing a match I'd paid for in my season ticket, because I couldn't afford or justify to spend a further one-off £100 to get in.

Your hearts in the right place ILOVEBHA (as your name suggests), but your grasp on reality is all over the shop.

How about a Sponsered walk, a few of us to walk round the track at withdean a certain amonut of times or for a number of hours, and maybe get people who are walking in at the game to sponser them, might not work just an idea thrown in.

The initial idea behind the Forty Notes Fund was for 2,500 people - primarily targetted at season ticket holders - to donate £40. That way, the club would get £100,000. Needless to say, we got nowhere near that amount (latest grand total since its inception - about £30,000). The amount of support we got was great, but it was tarnished with the amount abuse we got, which was very disappointing.

I am not trying to piss on your parade - really I'm not - but to get people to stick their hands in their pockets, you would have to encourage, cajole, hassle, persecute, abuse, torture and then threaten to shoot them. Unfortunately, and Attila will back this up, when it comes to anything organised by the fans, it is the same old 'usual suspects' who give dosh to the Albion, and this numbers about maybe 800 people, a fair whack fo whom are on here.

Some people, remember, consider it their God-given right to be able to automatically obtain away match tickets to any game of their choosing if they are season ticket holders. Bearing in mind that mindset, think of what they would say if you asked them to pay again for the same home match.

It's a good idea, but possibly may need refining a little. How about when we buy tickets for an AWAY match, we make a donation to the club equivalent to the match tickets we have just bought? Just an idea.

Wouldn't work - the club would get very bad PR from the exercise and many fans wouldn't want to stump up £100 to see one game!

Many BHAFC fans have things like Mortgages, Car Loans, Holidays to save for etc, do you think the vast majority of fans would be willing to shell out £100 a ticket?

Unfortunatelly you make a lot of sense, but We do need an idea though that would raise a lot of money for the club.Getting the backing from the majority of the fans will be the hard part.

As TLO says, it still always comes down to trying to find new ways to get more money out of the same few faithful. Must be possible to find a way of capturing the imagination of the wider community and tapping into THEIR dosh. The Play-Off Final showed there's huge numbers of people out there with more than a passing interest in the Albion and are willing to travel to Cardiff to support the team. And there was quarter of a million happy smiling people on the beach for FBS the other Summer. Dunno, maybe a fund-raising gig in Preston Park, along the lines of Party In The Park or something. No doubt a million reasons why it couldn't happen, but maybe some kind of tie-in with the Brighton Festival could generate a chunk of money.

I would be willing.

If we all Sacrificed a night out with the lads or dinner out with the wife or partner, stay in and you will save enough.

Maybe £100 was too high an estimate, between £50 and £70 may be more reasonable.

Hmmm, i like the idea but dont see it ever getting any support.

But, to pick up from TLO, how about away games having a non-compulsary £5 donation added? It wouldnt make the same sort of money, but will probably have a high take up. A few big away games would generate 100K or so which would help.

Also, wouldn't the club be liable for the extra VAT?

You are right but it is only 17.5% the rest they get to keep.
If it was £60 a ticket £8.93 would go to the tax man £51.07 to the club.

It would also give an opportunity for those who can't get to home games, or who can only get to away games the chance to say that they do contribute to the club's finances after all. It might help to alleviate this silly 'STH v AMS' nonsense.
