No one "ran" to the papers about it - McGhee could not lie about leaving a player out for disciplinary reasons, he had to level with the fans.
Very surprised that you are sympathetic to Leon, from the world you come from, you would think discipline would be the be all and end all.
And you underestimate the good that will come of this. Read the Argus article carefully - there is a whole range of issues that McGhee wants to get through to Leon with and this will all be helped by this "coming together" now. Expect further progress in the long battle to make Leon a mature professional and on-pitch leader.
And Kinky, just as it was absolutely inevitable that Knight would apologise, so it's absolutely inevitable that he will sign a new contract. No other Championship club would give him the opportunities we do - Leon and his advisers know this, which is why he signed his last contract.
