I wouldn't have him as a ball boy (no offence to our fine ball boys and girls)

What says it all for me is that he is 28 and he has already played for 13 different clubs. Which tells me either his attitude is terrible or 13 different managers are all wrong! I know which one is more likely.

It also says an awful lot for the manager(s) at Brighton who managed to get the best out of him. Peter Taylor and Mark McGhee I think?

You would think that by now he would have realised what the problem is and sort it out. Although we all expected him to go from club to club pissing people off I think most of us would have expected by now that he would realise that he needed to sort himself out. But it seems not. Truly astonishing.

I only ever really look at him in a postive light for what he achieved for us.

A talented player who pressed the self destruct button sadly.

I don't feel the need to call him names or slate him as i have to many fond memories of him.

Absolutely, l mean did we all hate him when he put away that all important penalty in the play-off final at the Millennium back in 2004?, no of course we didnt, we adored him.

Hate is a very strong word, one that we all use far too readily. Yes he has wasted his talent to a large degree, but that was his choice not ours. He was the Kaz Lua-Lua of his day in many ways, very exciting to watch, and with the added bonus of being able to find the back of the net on a regular basis.

l'll always remember you fondly anyway Leon.

It's taken a long time but maybe the know it alls who laid the blame for Knight being a twat at McGhee's door have FINALLY seen the light. Not a single post blaming McGhee for ickle Leon's downfall, whereas before more than 50% of LK threads ended up suggesting McGhee didn't handle him right or play him in the right position.

Good luck to him, he's gonna need it.

There's a reason he's a free agent, he's a cock. He's made himself pretty much untouchable in this country with his appalling attitude and complete tosspotness. Maybe having kids now may make him realise this but i fear its already too late for Leon. :tosser:

This

One of the finest players I have witnessed playing for us

Are you sure?

He was a brilliant GOALSCORER for ONE season, when his selfish attitude and general cuntishness was overshadowed by the hard work everyone else did to generate the chances he converted.

The following season, when he was required to play differently and actually work hard for the TEAM, he was exposed for what he is, a lazy, arrogant wanker who couldn't give a shit about this club or any other for that matter.

Leon Knight is a f***ing TWAT who has f***ed up so many 'final chances' he doesn't actually deserve yet another.

He's definitely NOT 'alright'

I would actually quite like to see the reaction when he ran out at The "shoe box" playing for another league 1 club

I know you all think im probably crazy but if Knight still has the ability to score 20+ goals then i'd have him back.

Sadly McGhee knocked it out of him. Which is a criminal waste of a player with more natural ability in his little finger than Holroyd has in his tiny head.

Oh dear. How can you still believe that?

How did McGhee ruin the career of Leon Knight? He went to a better and bigger clubs after his stint here.

As you know full well, the season after he scored 25 goals, McGhee played him on the wing, played him in central midfield, left him on the bench, anything rather than play him in the only area of the pitch he was (massively) successful in - the box.

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
You make it sound as though he was banging them in from the start. It was quite clear that he wasn't pulling his weight and that carries back from the season before, when it came to training and being an all round good egg.

Blimey. Poor chap. He was asked to chip in elsewhere for the good of the team. Before you say it didn't work, you are quite right. It didn't work because Leon is not a team player and he was only playing football to fund his lavish lifestyle (and failed at that miserably considering he faced bankruptcy at least once).

McGhee was able to get the best out of him during his whole career. If anything, we should be grateful to the canny Scotsman for doing that.

He wasn't built to have a long successful career in football, if he struggled with being asked to chip in elsewhere.

The Championship was a different kettle of fish and he clearly couldn't hack it. Thank goodness his 'best mate' John Terry advised him to go to Swansea.

still love him for that season and that penalty and nothing will take that away. Clearly messed up his career in a big way but find it quite funny the amount of threads he still gets, sure he would be touched!

He was a goal poacher, a fox in the box, pure and simple. It was just dumb asking him to play anywhere else. That's why it didn't work.

he actually played quite a bit upfront that season

and scored about what, 6 goals or something? knight has never been able to score many at that level, only league 1 level

incredibly harsh to blame mcghee for ruining knight's career, when it was clearly knight's ego and possible mental demons that did that

and you will know, if you take off the Knight tinted glasses, that many of those 25 goals came from the penalty spot and once he was found out the goals dried up. someone will have to drag up the records, i recall he bearly scored in open play the second half of that first season. he was put on the wing to try using his skill with less attention, but he didnt want to try that did he?
