Leon is our most talented player and his only crime is showing signs of CARING about being taken off.

McGhee needs to handle him better and some of the fans on here do not deserve to see someone as talented as him in the Brighton side.

I haven't seen that many signs of him caring. In fact, when things aren't going his own way, he tends to give up very quickly.

That petulant flick was about his ego and personal glory. He certainly never gave him team-mates a thought when he did that. He felt humiliated because, as some people have thought on here, he too thought he was being replaced by a lesser player. That's just too bad - it's not his choice to make.

Anyone deal with prima donnas in their business?

I can't say they are a pain in the neck. That is reserved for business competitors and Government agencies, but they are a bit of nuisance that can spoil my day for a bit.

I tend to ignore it or make some cursory attempts at making them see the real world. Then I get fed up with it all.

They may be the best photographer (my business) but the regular jobbing image taker is more useful, even of we don't win any prizes.

Do you think that will make people discuss it then? I don't think anyone has an opinion.
Well, no harm in trying is there. :lolol:

Some games he is our best player on the park, in others he is anonymous. His attitude is equally inconsistent. One minute he's being featured in the press saying his bad boy days are over and the next he's throwing his toys out of the pram again for being substituted. So I don't see why the need to take 'Leon is a legend' or 'Leon is a prize tit' sides, he's a bit of both. His strop at the Wolves match was worth every second of it for seeing McGhee piss himself laughing at him. Top entertainment.

Exactly. Robbie Keane went off in a huff last year for Spurs, gestured at Martin Jol and stormed down the tunnel. Yet Jol, unlike McGhee, played it down, pointing out quite rightly that Keane was only upset because he was desperate to play. The same was true of Knight, and McGhee could have handled it much better.

I geniunely am surprised that you are joining the bunch of immaturos defending Knight. Much as I wanted McCammon in the team at the tail-end of last seasom, I knew once he defied McGhee he was out of the reckoning until he'd accepted the vital prerequisite of every team sport - discipline. This is exactly the demand you should be making of your "favourite" and it's sad that you don't.

And frankly you are kidding if you think a manager like Jol would accept Knight's behaviour. You know full well that what has led Knight to be out of the side was not his petulant, childish behaviour at the end of the game, but his complete refusal to show any contriteness to McGhee afterwards. We all know that if Knight had gone to McGhee afterwards and apologised, he would have been in the team at Stoke - McCammon was rehabilitated in less than a week after showing he was sorry.

But no. Knight has still not made any overtures to his boss who he insulted in front of 7,000 fans, unlike McCammon who only did it in front of the rest of the team.

If you think McGhee can accept this, you are deeply, deeply misguided. Team discipline and team spirit - which is basically 80 per cent of what has kept this club this club afloat at this level of football during the Withdean era - absolutely depend on McGhee not being treated like this :nono: :nono: :nono:

Don't get me wrong; I dislike aspects of Leon's attitude - not his supposed "arrogance", plenty of players have that, but I was somewhat disappointed to see him not returning the supporters' applause when he came off, and I think he brings a lot of the fuss surrounding him on himself.

However ... I think McGhee could have handled it better, as Jol did with Keane is similar circumstances. Hopefully Leon'll make the apology, McGhee will accept it and we'll never see one of these threads again. But I won't hold my breath.

In your opinion, RT, what do you believe McGhee should have done?

Going only on what we saw, I don't really see that Knight did anything that terrible ... I think McGhee could have laughed it off on the radio - "That's Leon, he wants to play; he hates being subbed ... however, he could show a bit more respect to his team-mates, and we'll deal with it in private."

Or something like that.

I'm not sure this public humiliation is terribly helpful, for Leon, McGhee or squad harmony. But I guess time will tell.

Sounds a nice idea but that proberly wasn't the first time Leon's disrespected his boss and at some time he has to face the consequences!! I agree with what London Irish said.

What timing :lolol: Sky have just done a flashback on Robbie Keane, including a clip of Martin Jol having a go at him for not accepting a decision in the interests of the team :lolol:

Title of this thread says all that needs be said. Years to come you'll all look back and say yeah he was some player shame, we should have supported him when he was here.
McGhee has blown it all out of proportion and it will cost us points because he is the most naturally talented player we have.
