Brain dead MUG SHEEP
This fella just doesn't know when to shut up. This is in tomorrows Argus. ![no :nono: :nono:](/images/smilies/grayno.gif)
Former Albion striker Leon Knight has put the boot in again on his former club by criticising Withdean and the lack of atmosphere generated by the fans, citing these factors as major influences in him deciding to leave the club.
Knight, who was sold to Swansea City in January for £125,000 following a fall-out with manager Mark McGhee, is quoted in the Swansea Echo as saying: "It's no secret that Brightons ground is the worst in the League, but the fans hardly helped matters. As a skilful forward, I'm a confidence player and I need the crowd right behind me to get me in the mood, but most of the time you could hear a pin drop at that place. Either that or they were all on my back for not chasing every useless pass that was running out of play anyway. I couldn't get out of that dump fast enough". In a new twist to the saga, Knight also took a sideways swipe at the Withdean ballboys, labelling them "fat and uncoordinated". He said: "In most home games we were invariably losing, so we didn't have the time to mess about chasing after the ball for throw-ins. It might seem like a minor gripe, but when you're fighting relegation and the clocks running down, the last thing you need is some tubby little chav from primary school waddling around throwing like a girl. In one match just before Christmas I had a bit of a go at one of them, and he just gave me a mouthful of abuse back. That just about said it all for me, and I just wanted out".
The comments are certain to infuriate fans who were already angered at quotes by Leon Knight two weeks ago when he said he was "delighted" that the Seagulls had been relegated. Albion Chief Executive Martin Perry was disappointed but not surprised at Knights latest remarks. "It's all getting a bit daft now" he said. "I think Leon should be concentrating all his efforts on helping his new club gain promotion, but instead he still seems intent on going to the press and criticising us at every opportunity. We know he was always a bit of a cunt, but to start bad-mouthing the ball boys is totally uncalled for. Two of them have a glandular problem which makes them big-boned for their age, but they've all done a first class job all season, we've made them well aware of that".
On Sunday, Knight helped Swansea City reach the League One Playoff Final, scoring twice against Brentford at Griffin Park to book their place in the final against Barnsley.
