Gus was spot on with his dislike of the loan system. Since he's left we've relied more and more on loan signings and got progressively worse as a team.

Agreed, we need a forward who can bring something new to our attacking options and CH must know what he's doing. You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to work out why he didn't get much game time at Derby.

Absolutely. We will look to buy permanently in the summer in my opinion - Now is all about steadying the ship.

I'm just glad that potential players don't read forums like this - they'd never want to join considering they're immediately not good enough.

Lets judge him once he's started playing for us.

Its not like the lad is 19 years old and a promising talent. He struggles at every level he's been competing, he's never been prolific and its common knowledge any team looking at a transfer market with ambition would choose to swerve. I will 100% support the chap when on pitch, but its hugely underwhelming when you hear Lambert saying we didn't want to renew Bent's contract.
Its just smells like a farcical transfer window once more. But once again, lets hope we're all proved wrong.

He has played 240 times and scored 54 goals in his career. Not a good return for a striker, we already have Strikers who cant score why bring in another?

We have replaced Ulloa with dross and loan signings.

Yawn...

Steve McLaren: "He has been an absolute gem - a model professional," McClaren said. "His attitude has been great every day. He has just been unfortunate that he has been behind Chris Martin, who has been incredible for the first half of the season."

He also said he had had chances and not taken them, which is far more telling imo. Derby create chances for fun and he couldn't find the net. Apparently booed by Derby fans too? Of course we have to give him a chance but it's not really a very thrilling signing considering the position we are in. We probably have the worst strike force in the division so it would have been nice to get a player who had actually scored this season.

if Leon Best cant score in a team like Derby's what chance has he got here? Yet another uninspired loan in a season of uninspired loans!

He also can't score if he is not on the pitch. All 15 games, as far as I can see, were as substitute so it's a bit unfair to judge him if he has only played 20 minutes here and there. I for one will give him a chance before slagging him off.

I don't think it's the player as much as the club with their total lack of ambition that is pissing most of us off.

Bobby Zamora's scored 60 goals in 300+ appearances since leaving the Albion.

Im not sure how you can compare Zamora to Best? Zamora moved on from us at a young age due to his excellent goal to game ratio for us. Best hasnt had an excellent goal to game ration anywhere he has been and is now 28.

Thankyou for proving my point.

I think Best will be a good signing. Good championship player.

Hughton got the best out of him at Newcastle, so hopefully he can do it again.

10 goals in 46 appearances isn't really all that stunning at Newcastle. Can't speak for his general ability while there though.

The ambition of the club is just to avoid the bottom 3 places this year, so I would not expect any big signings in January. Next Summer will see if the clubs ambitions have changed.

Obviously everybody on here was present at the chat between CH and Leon Best so know that he didnt say prove your worth and we will sign you in the summer ready for a push next season. His goal scoring record for CH at Newcastle is reasonable 1 goal every 4 games so I am not disappointed.

Honestly, if this is the best we can do, I'm bitterly disappointed. And if this is the case I would assume The Board see our future in the Championship for sometime to come, or at least until the Acadamy kicks in.
But Hey, the seats are comfortable and the little Piggy Pies are nice. :)
