It does sound reasonably likely actually.
Of course he couldn't sign yet, but some deals do get announced before the transfer window opens.
The thing is - we know the albion would have been chasing a striker signing from September 1st. Maybe it's a new name, maybe it was a player chased in the summer.

We'll know when the window opens.
The Albion and x other clubs didn't get their deals done because of the knock on from other (non) deals, further up the food chain.
If CEO's have learned their lesson and start 01.01 then the Albion will be in the mix.
But gawd help NSC if the window opens and not much happens.

He only a year into a 5 year deal, not sure why Espanyol would loan him.

Swansea. Hmmm. Not remotely convinced. They only play one up-front, and have two, both of which have cost them a fair whack. What's more, they're tosh, with the worst squad in the PL, and going down, which is hardly going to prove attractive.
