CELTIC have warned English suitors that Leigh Griffiths is NOT for sale - at ANY price.

Parkhead chiefs will entertain no interest in their top scorer during the frantic final week of the transfer window as Brighton emerged as the first club to start sniffing around the Scotland star.

Record Sport can reveal the English Premier League hopefuls have made background checks on his ability and character as they hunt a new striker.

Seagulls scouts have put Griffiths’ name forward to manager Chris Hughton, who is desperate to add firepower to his team as they push for automatic entry to the top-flight.

Not sure what 27 goals this season so far for Celtic in the SPL is equivalent to in The Championship ... around 4 maybe?

He wasn't a success at this level before and I don't think he's better than the strikers we have so I'm hoping we don't get him.

He scored 12 in 26 for wolves .... Has a 1 in 2 record everywhere he's been. What more do people want ?!?

I would take him for sure

Cue generic responses that goals in the SPL mean nothing.

For a Dundee Utd / Kilmarnock they might well be. But given Celtic are likely to score anything up to 150 and pretty well win the league at a canter you can't deny it's difficult to put 'value' on what 27 so far this season means

Silly comparison point. Are you saying no striker has made the step up?

For what it's worth he has scored against malmo and fernabache this season.....

Isn't really silly. He hasn't played at a level comparable to the Championship consistently. Of course he COULD make the step up, but if Celtic are reluctant to sell we'd be paying over the odds for an unproven striker. As for European goals, Elvis Manu scored against Roma last year...

I don't think I'm wrong in saying that his attitude has been an issue in the past, plus, banging in goals in the SPL for Celtic (without Rangers) is hardly a gargantuan achievement. I know his Championship record isn't awful but it'd still be a no from me, why pay over the odds for someone who has the potential to cause trouble?
