[Albion] "Legend" Status?

I don't see why the 'legend' has to be a good player. A legend for me is:

a) They gained notoriety for their actions whilst wearing the stripes
b) A good 15-20 years has passed and
c) Fans are still talking about them.

e.g. Hans Kraay, George Parris, Frank Worthington - all legends.

Folklore comes into it all somehow. People whose name carry on through the generations. Names that trip out of the mouth without thinking too much about it.

There have been very few legendary footballers in history, let alone BHA. Names that have been passed down from generation to generation. Probably only Pele and Maradona. Ronaldo and Messi may join that elite status in years to come.
No Brighton player has yet achieved that status.

The OP mentioned Club legends. None of your legends played for BHAFC!

A legend will have to have a Brighton bus named after them
And a tatty sun-bleached thing on that wall behind the West stand.

The moment I became older than footballers I lost a certain something where I looked up/worshipped footballers because, you know, they are 25 and just kicking a ball about n that.

Love the sport. Want us to win. Don't idolise the lucky lot getting to do it and earn my yearly salary each week.

I probably save the club legend status for people involved in saving it.

That sounded awfully bitter didn't it.

Bit of a made-up BS label in its application to footballers paid to do a job imo. Deciding who is or isn’t a ’legend’ sits alongside discussions about which is the ’bigger club’ Great servants, decent players, mercenaries and wastes of money yes, legends not so much. Tony is the real club legend.

You seriously don't think Cruyff is a legend? Or Puskas? Beckenbauer? I think your criteria is far too narrow, and anyway this is meant is meant to be about BHA.

Dunk and Gross are/will be legends in my eyes after they have retired. Solly March may achieve legend status by the time he retires. From past players I have seen play only Ward is a legend but Nobby Horton comes close.

What tune are we signing this to...?
Here you are:

We play in blue, we play in white
We play in blue, we play in white
We play in blue, we play in white
We play in blue, we play in white

Your time has come your second skin
The cost so high the gain so low
Walk through the valley
The written word is a lie

Roberto de Zerbi
Roberto de Zerbi
Roberto de Zerbi
Roberto de Zerbi

We play in blue, we play in white
We play in blue, we play in white

They put a hot wire to my head
'Cos of the things I did and said
And made these feelings go away
Model citizen in every way

Roberto de Zerbi
