We need a left wing back for certain. Look at how much Lamptey adds at RWB, of course we need similar at LWB and it would massively strengthen our team having a better player on that side. March is good, but we should be looking to upgrade him so that if we got an injury like Solly's this season, we have a higher level of cover. I like Burn and he's very useful in the squad. But he adds almost nothing going forward in 90% of the games so we absolutely need better quality cover in that position.

I wouldn't be surprised about Bertrand signing. Similar to Veltman, Lallana & Wellbeck last summer a player who has ability and will add something when they play is always a good option. I can see similar players making the jump and being vital to our squad

For me, LWB is the second most important bit of business we have to do after signing a striker.

Sessegnon is exactly what we require, and with him and Lamptey raiding down the flanks, the likes of Welbeck and Meite causing problems in the middle then the lacklustre goals and assist stats for Lallana and MacAllister could really go high.

In fact, if the only signings we made this summer were Sessegnon, Welbeck and Meite I'd be excited for the season ahead.

Ever since Markus Liebherr died back 2010 the ownership got passed on to his daughter I think and obviously the investment has gone down year on year. The family have finally lost all interest in the club and are making things difficult for Ralph to operate is what I have heard and he is on his way out.

The Liebherr family sold about 80% of their stake in Southampton to Gao Jisheng a few years ago, they are very much minority shareholders now. Things between Ralph and the club must have soured quite quickly If he’s thinking of leaving as he only signed a new four year deal a year ago.

I don't think Potter wants to play Karbo on the left so we certainly need an LWB similar to March but perhaps with a better eye for goal. Burn is good but should be seen as a tactical change type of player rather than someone who would own the position like March does. Ryan Sessegnon is the man for me. He'd replace Bernardo & Izquierdo. Sing him up.

Potter quite apparently thinks Karbownik needs to work on certain things, which is why he hasn't been in the 18 when we've needed cover at full back. I don't think it's just about LWB, it's in general with him. And, largely, it's not surprising. He's young (still a teenager?), and would be surprised if he doesn't get given game time. But he obviously needs time to adjust.

I am still amazed that we didn't go in for him last summer. He doesn't seem to have done much this season though, so maybe he's not all he's cracked up to be.

I thought he looked good when he played, but we know all players ne realigning to Potter world when they arrive.

Karbownik's a funny one. We all (or at least many of us) thought he was coming in as LWB cover for/competition for Solly - then when he gets here we hind he's not left footed at all, and although he had filled in for his club as a LWB, that wasn't his normal/preferred position at all. Obviously the recruitment team will have noticed he's right footed and not a natural LWB (well, you'd bl**dy well hope so!) so I wonder what the plan is/was for him.

Although we paid a seven figure sum for him (allegedly - but very likely), and a bit more, I think, to terminate his loan spell in January it maybe that he'll go on loan to a Championship club for a season. It does seem ridiculous that we pay what would have been a huge transfer fee for us not that many years ago only to send him out on loan - but maybe that's the way of the world in mad football finances these days.

I like Burn. He's a great outlet, he gets up and down, he's whole hearted and a better player than given credit for. In some matches he is a great option at LWB.

However there will be some where we're struggling to break the opposition down and we need trickery and crossing ability from the flanks.

I'd very much like to see us add cover here. The fact that we've tried Moder and Alzate in this very specialist position, says to me we're short of options.
