The whole thing stinks.

Do Administrators work on behalf of the company, or suppliers ?

KPMG cocked the whole thing up entirely right from the phone calls to the shambolic CVA vote meeting.

The money owed to HRMC wasn't all PAYE/NI, a certain (small) portion was the rest was to with income/assets and stuff. I don't know a whole heap about that because my eyes glaze over when Paddy starts on about it, but it was because it wasn't all PAYE/NI (and that was pretty much up to date) that the PFA supported Bates through this all and had the majority of the playing staff on his side.

What about the teams in League One who haven't gone into administration and play within the financial rules?

Are we competing merely to come second to teams like Leeds United, who can throw debts away and buy success at a price that isn't available to the rest of us?

Quite right. Having trampled on the spirit of the administration laws (clever old Ken), they trample on the tax-payer, and will probably trample over a lot of teams next years with players they should not be able to afford.

"I don't discuss figures, and never have, but Dennis will have funds available to him," said Bates. "We're in limbo slightly but that does not stop us talking to players formally and agreeing deals in principle."

"We've already held lots of informal discussions, and Dennis has got a long shopping list," Bates added. "We actually sent him away on holiday while all this was going on because there was nothing more he could do. But he knows who he wants."

- Ken Bates the other week.
I think we can take that as meaning "yes - we'll get all our debts written off, and then STILL splash the cash in the transfer market"

but will players want to sign with leeds after knowing people in their previous position were paid just 1% of what they were owed???

Not so - the 1p in the pound doesn't apply to 'football creditors'.

Mr Willis was a Huddersfield fan until he thought he could get 15 minutes of fame.

The terrier found something he could get his teeth into?

Heh. I wish he could quickly find something else to get stuck into.

Apparently he had season tickets at both Hudds and Leeds for the last 6 years. That is what he told Paddy today and he wants the best thing for Leeds, blah, blah. Couldn't possibly have been tapped up with a few pence by a disgruntled creditor.

Mr Bates brings the game of football into disrepute by his continued invilvement in the game.
The time will come when his intrinsic dishonesty will become clear.
Remember the lesson of Boston
Leeds are not so big as to be above justice no matter how long it may take

At the moment I notice a lot of "LUFC are the pits, they should be docked" etc.
However - should we BHAFC fans not, for one short thought or two, look at LUFC fans as victims of dodgy dealing chairscum - and empathise with them a little?
Again, it is the FA who ought to be looked at - they claim to control the English game, yet chairscum can RUIN a club for self gain. LUFC started falling from the lofty height of the Premier League, otherwise.... they'd be fighting to keep from the Conference or extinction before now. Someone has screwed and is still screwing them, and the FA punish the playing club, and not the administration of the club.

Fans against Leeds? Not imho, a good way to look at this.
Fans against dodgy chairmen and a continually useless FA who have allowed, and been integral to, the ruin of English football - Oh yes indeed.
That's what is criminal here, as I see it.
