From Leeds message board. Seems like the FL are trying to find away in backing down without losing face.

Basically this comes from a Leeds United representative who has been involved in the talks with the Football League this week. Talks actually started on tuesday PM and continued all day yesterday - i'll pick through the best snippets of ingot that he was able to give me.

- Leeds had been 'given assurances' before their meeting they would receive their share back at the meeting on tuesday and had arranged for contracts to be drawn up for the players to sign on the tuesday evening (night of Darlo game) tranferring registration to new LU2007 company. Unfortunately this was not the case and Leeds were furious. Wise had been told he would be able to sign new players from tuesday night and was 'deeply upset' this was not the case. It is understood a couple of the trialists and players being lined up are getting itchy feet and may go elsewhere in search of a contract.

- FL had backtracked on a verbal agreement that if certain paperwork was produced they would hand over the share 'without delay'. The paperwork went to them two weeks ago, they then asked for more on monday of last week, KPMG supplied it on weds last week. FL seem to be 'chainging the goalposts'.

- KPMG initially refused to attend the meeting on tuesday due to and issue with legal fees (Leeds didnt want to pay them to attend??) but they were at the meeting yesterday and will be there today.

- PFA have been present at the meeting and will meet with Leeds players today. Several players have asked the PFA when/how/under what circumstances they can walk away from their contracts. This has angered Bates and there may be players that because of this will not play for the club again.

- The court action from HMRC is still very much alive despite press speculation. Even though the CVA has been scrapped the court case in Early Sept is still on the court schedule and it is understood HMRC will still press ahead with it. For this reason THEY themselves have also been involved in the talks with LU and FL this week. FL not happy to proceed with threat from HMRC looming.

- FL 'should' reluctantly give our share back this morning but were frantically drawing up a legal contract last night with which Leeds must agree to adhere to before this is returned. This will include a wage cap, a payback scheme of all debts to players, MANAGERS (inc. Blackwell- this has been a moot point in discussion which FL are very unhappy about), All Football league clubs and also an agreed payback compromise to the HMRC. The payback deal to the HMRC is understood to be the key stumbling block. If this is agreed in the meeting the HMRC have agreed to drop their case at which point the share will be given back. If Leeds refuse to accept this point or compromise it to a satisfactory degree they may still be given their share back but with a suspended points deduction awarded which would either be actioned or overturned pending the results of the court case with HMRC.

- If Leeds do get share today there will be 2/3 new players purchased (with real money!) 3/4 players signed on which will include those on trial and also 4/5 players from last season given new contracts. There will be a new shirt sponsorship announced in time for first home game of the season.

i know that a lot of what is written above especially about kpmg, leeds paying them to attend, the pfa is not correct and the hmrc stuff is not as simple as that message makes it sound.

lots of people around putting things online to suit their own agendas.

from whats presented there, it sounds like the FL trying to engineer an unofficial CVA which covers parties related to football, so bacsically their interests. maybe the details not right but that could be a way for the FL to resolve the situation, any compromise has to be done in away that doesnt set a precendent.

Am I right in thinking that Constantine has hurt his foot and was last seen hobbling around with a pot on it? Makes you wonder if these trialists are playing with their careers. One bad injury and they could be finished. I couldn't see Uncle Ken paying up or even paying for say a cruciate knee op.

Btw Robbied 69, do you work for London Electricity and won the signed Leeds shirt (under REMF) a few years ago. If so it was me who got it signed.

the fl are trying to find a way to let leeds start the season without causing a huge backlash from its other member clubs. as it stands right now if they give the share to lu07 they have gone against their own rules and are trying to work it so that the other clubs are not too irate.

the contract between fl and leeds (which is yet to be agreed) is said to do this but i am not convinced, yet.

and yes, leon is injured, at first he thought he was crocked for 5 months but i don't think it's as bad as first thought now.

could very well be all over for us now.

after initially blinking to bates and giving him chance billy big balls has decided he is bigger than the fl and will only play by his rules, decided not to take the 'olive' branch offered.

the fl have now asked for 'the' cva to be put back in place. kpmg are scrabbling around but bates is back in his corner (because a contract to allow us the golden share to be returned could not be agreed in any way shape or form) mawhinney is laying on the pressure for kpmg to either say yes or no. if they say no then it's highly unlikely we'll play on august 11th because kpmg will not find oldleeds in admin and bates has already told us he'd rather see the club wound up, but simon franks was/is happy to fund the club in this instance. that would mean bates walking away which is of course never going to happen in a month of sundays. if they say yes the cva (which is the whole hmcr legal) can then be challenged all over again and while we wouldn't be right the way back at square one we'd be pretty darn close.

ps kpmg managed to sell the buy back right to elland road and the training ground to bates newco. until now it had been held in 'trust' for the club. this only emerged yesterday and was not raised at the meetings and nor were redbus aware that this was included in the 'sale'

kpmg - bunch of utter asshats. i hope this fiasco chokes the lot of them in a slow and painful way.....

you can say that again. between kpmg, hmrc, bates, the fl and everyone else who wants a piece of pie there is not much chance.

sorry about the typing in that message above, home alone with the kids and a bit distracted.

if Bates got the training facilities and buyback then its all over for the old club isnt it? who actually owns Elland road?

alot of other clubs are going to miss out if Leeds dont fulfill fixtures, thats 5% of the seasons revneues gone. no mistake its a complete shit storm.
