What is it with fans of once successful clubs being obsessed with their comparative size? Are they compensating for something being less than average size perhaps?

Indeed it is silly.

To brag about supporting the biggest club is like bragging about eating at McDonalds because they are the biggest foodchain.

Even worse is when fans of really big clubs like Manchester United brag about the size of the club, not understanding that "I'm a United supporter" essentially means "I have no personality whatsoever."
