Ooh it’s a corner

Full game was live on Premier Sports in Ireland. Our finishing cost us dearly - Mac’s chance just before ht was the worst miss with Welbz just behind. Dunky was the best for me.
First Leeds goal was a deflection and the second we switched off at the corner. I did think we were sloppier than usual in possession but they deffo harnessed our pivot very well as stated elsewhere.
Two points lost sadly but now onward and upward - we REALLY need to beat Palace

I actually agree with both.

However, he might also have dropped a routine catch from a cross, right at Bamford's feet.

On balance, Sanchez has got what he deserved and we didn't win primarily because Welbeck and Mac Allister both missed very presentable chances, both unmarked inside the penalty box with just the keeper to beat.
Exactly what I was just about to post - beat me to it

Clutching at straws, the ball had been delivered before the second ball came on to the pitch near where the corner had been taken from, the corner taker just pushed it back off the pitch
Yeah fair enough, but I thought the same about Mwepu's "interference" for MacAllister's thunderbastard goal.

Bamford. He's always a handful isn't he - and he was again today. Not just his goals - but his little touches and passes setting players away. I was glad to see him go off, but then they bought on Gnonto instead - and he caused no end of problems for us.

Yes. Leeds (and Bournemouth) won't go down on today's evidence. When they do lose, they only lose by the odd goal. I wonder whether they might be in a false position. And Bournemouth score goals and weren't that bad at the Amex a few weeks ago.

West Ham and Southampton look doomed to me. Southampton won last week but we're SO lucky, West Ham are just shit.

Agree with those saying ...

I think Steele is much easier to lob than Sanchez and I think he'd have got to the second one, or more likely Harrison wouldn't have even tried it. Height is a massive plus in a keeper.

The first goal, was a lucky deflection. It would have taken a world class save from anyone to keep that out.

But hasn’t dropped the ball at a centre forwards foot yet.

Unlucky not to take 3 points but on balance 4 out of 6 points not bad against Leeds. Three points against Palace however WILL BE MASSIVE.

We only had two shots on target - nowhere near enough given what we created and the possession we had. Meslier didn’t have much to do. That’s why we didn’t win.
Unusual for them, Cantor and Aspinall were persistently critical throughout on that, not upbeat at all even when we were winning. They thought the slow passing from pillar to post outside the box was awful.

So, with Sanchez playing, he saves both shots but concedes a soft one and we win 2-1. I'll take that.

Obviously I'd take that too if we can be sure that is what would've happened. But we're not, so it's all a bit pointless.

The first Leeds equaliser was lucky anyway, if it hadn't clipped Webster's outstretched leg it would never have gone in - Steele, Sanchez or 1970s Gordon Banks.

Behave, Bamford is a championship level striker IMO. You didn’t watch the same game as me. He was anonymous for the most part, one speculative shot which was going straight at Steele….
We absolutely bossed that first half, a massive slice of luck changed the game, along with some woeful finishing, again, from Mac. Although we could learn something from Bamford, if you don’t shoot…..

The ref really pissed me off with some of the tackles he let Leeds get away with early in the game, especially against Ali Mac but as the game went on it was clear he was trying to let the game flow and treated tackles from both sides in the same manner.

Although I was irritated that we didn’t win, that was a very watchable game of football with very few histrionics, virtually no gamesmanship and a ref who didn‘t crave the limelight.

 for the ref

Having just watched the highlights to be fair to Leeds they scored two very well taken goals so maybe not such a bad result, but it sounded like we had plenty of chances to score though and Welbeck should’ve just gone round the keeper on the one on one IMO and then either he can just tap in to an empty net or the keeper would probably bring him down.
