The reason we are not in second place today is that we draw far too many games. However a draw would be more than welcome today! Come on lads!

Head-to-head
• Brighton travel in search of only their third league victory at Elland Road.
• Leeds have avoided defeat in 10 of their last 12 league and cup matches against the Seagulls, and have failed to score in only one of those.
• Honours were even when these clubs met at the Amex in November as four goals were shared. Both of Brighton's came from Craig Mackail-Smith, who kept up his record of scoring every time he has played Leeds in senior football.
Leeds
• Leeds are one of the three teams mathematically certain of staying put in the Championship next season, which will be their fourth since promotion from League One and 10th outside the Premier League.
• Brian McDermott is now charged with trying to bring the good times back to Elland Road, and under him so far the Whites have won two and lost one.
• Against the leading clubs, Leeds have lost at home to Cardiff, Hull and Watford, but beaten Crystal Palace, Bolton, Leicester and Nottingham Forest.
• Forward Luke Varney, 30, is in line to make his 300th career league appearance.
Brighton
• Gus Poyet takes his Brighton side back to Elland Road where he was assistant manager to Dennis Wise for a year from October 2006.
• The Seagulls are on the longest current unbeaten sequence in the Championship of seven games (W3, D4) and are well placed to clinch a play-off spot.
• The Sussex club have won more Championship points in 2013 than any other club (35 from 20 games), and have lost just six times on the road all season; only Charlton match that.
• The regular season will end on 4 May, home to relegation battlers Wolves.

Far too much optimism on this thread, we are Brighton and NEVER EVER make things easy for ourselves.

Leeds 2-1 Brighton

Bolton will beat Cardiff today as well.
