After the shenanigans with Tevez and West Ham last season it would not suprise me in the least if Leeds get their points back.

I have absolutely no problems with Leeds getting their points back.........

On the SAME RATE at which their creditors are refunded. Therefore 15 points at .08 per point comes to a grand total of 1.2 points.

Let's see that bastard Ken Bates argue that not being fair, eh!!!

you have to recall that the Leeds in the leauge today is not the same company as the Leeds of yesteryear. the old one is still in administration and i believe if they had started the season as such they would have had an immediate points deduction anyway.

Bates formed a new company, Leeds United AFC or somthing, and transfered the player registrations and season ticket sales to it, but it was not a member of the league so had to acquire the "gold share" (membership) from the league to participate. this was offered on the condition that they would still get the points deduction, but since the would now be free from the old debts, they took the option. then proceded to claim it was against the FL rules and sue them.

(i may have got some of this wrong, but its was some sort of stitch up)

That's exactly what I understand. Only bit to add is they failed to agree a CVA with the creditors.

It would seem the league allowed Leeds to start the season "under exceptional circumstances", thus the 15 point deduction.

It's remarkable that it appears Leeds are arguing that because the company that went into administration isn't the same company running the club now - it's exempt. Looks like they are looking for a loophole, even though the same people are in charge of the new company.

Or more probable, they're looking for their points back because the wheels have come off their season...

That is a SUPERB idea.

The CVA probably meant that the measley payout was made over a period of years as well, so those 1.2 points could be returned to them in installments as well.

If Leeds get back the 15 points then they should have to give back the golden share to the FL. They could only start the 07-08 season on the basis of accepting the points deduction in exchange for the golden share. Leeds would then have to decide on having the points back but being expelled or accept they will still be a 3rd tier side for a least another season.

If we finish above Southend then it shouldn't matter.

According to a lawyer in yesterday's Observer Leeds signed a document with the League which agreed the 15 points deduction in return for the 'golden share'. He stated this will be Leeds biggest hurdle.

I can't see Leeds getting any points back otherwise it would leave the league open to counter issues with the club that misses out.

At some point you (Leeds) have to accept your fate due to wreckless financial mis-management.

If they do, can we have our two points back from 1997?

It's not as though we could be held responsible for Archer and Bellotti's behaviour...

They will probably argue that they did so "under duress" and always stated that they planned to appeal, which is "fairness" they did.

I've got a sense that the league have got themselves in a bit of a pickle over this. Interesting that no-one from the league agreed to appear on tonight Radio 5 Live programme about football finances.

Isn't that the ONLY hurdle they have to get over? There were no rules (as such) that Leeds have broken, so if they hadn't signed that bit of paper then the FL wouldn't have a leg to stand on. (I think...)
