I'm worried about this. I know they won't get all their points back, but even if they get 5 points back we could be totally f***ed. We have to beat them on Saturday. *prays*

They can have their points back next season (if they deserve to have any back at all because that is what they agreed to) and start ahead of everyone else.

They have appealed against the whole sanction, not a reduce points sanction so they'll be getting nothing.

as i understand it, Leeds position is that there shouldnt have been any points deduction at all. so they are seeking to have them all back, not arbitration over the severity. if they argue to have the punishment merely reduced it undermines their initial principle. The FL will be looking like right dicks if they try to meet some middle ground too. So its and all nothing.

even if Leeds succeed the FL could turn around and say the golden share was granted on condition of the points deduction and simply boot them. that could get very messy if after the playoff are resolved, i expect they are banking on that just like they did holding out until so close to the start of the season last year.

If they do get the 15 points back you can guarantee the football league will be sued by any club missing out on the play offs because of it.

Giving them a 15 point head start next year - you may as well give them promotion!

I said that because IF they got anything back at all (which they shouldn't) then it shouldn't be this season. It was just a supposition.
I honestly don't think they will get anything back.

Did the league get themselves into this mess a bit by not stating what the penalty would be coming out of admin without a CVA ?

.. or was the actual stated penalty much worse i.e. Leeds should have been banned from playing in the league this season ?

I don't think they should get anything back either, but if it was handed back to them this year then it'd be more fair to the rest of the clubs than giving it back next year. If they give it back to them this year then at least their starting point will be 0 for the season - like everyone else.

If they gave it back to them next year it'd give them an advantage over the other clubs, who haven't done anything wrong.

I dont understand that? If they were to get them back it would have to be this year as it was this years points that had been taken away.

It was just a suggestion nothing more than that.

you have to recall that the Leeds in the leauge today is not the same company as the Leeds of yesteryear. the old one is still in administration and i believe if they had started the season as such they would have had an immediate points deduction anyway.

Bates formed a new company, Leeds United AFC or somthing, and transfered the player registrations and season ticket sales to it, but it was not a member of the league so had to acquire the "gold share" (membership) from the league to participate. this was offered on the condition that they would still get the points deduction, but since the would now be free from the old debts, they took the option. then proceded to claim it was against the FL rules and sue them.

(i may have got some of this wrong, but its was some sort of stitch up)
