You make an interesting point there Starry. yes this league is full of proper fans and proper football people, that said I'd like to get the premiership because I want me team to be the best they can be, I'd like to experience the big days out to places like Old Trafford and Anfield.

Yes the PL is full of prawn sandwich eating corporate wankers but I can't think of a better feeling than having my football team playing in probably the best league in the world. There are some real fans still in the premier league and with all the shit we've been through in my life time I would like to experience it just once. Given that Leeds have been there and done it all (well nearly) I guess League 1 is a welcome change from all the shit in the PL, but for a small club like us getting to the PL would mean the world.

well good luck to you!

Presumably Leeds would only take this thing further if it meant the difference between the automatic places and not. If it was enough only for the play offs, would the 1 in 4 chance of promotion justify the expense? And what if you did win, but the courts rules you broke the rules and that simply a more leniant points deduction was appropriate?

Personally, I just don't see it happening.

i can't say much because i am legally involved in the case, as things stand right now i would far rather be on our side of the table than mawhinneys.

In what way are you involved in the case that is, presumably FL v LUFC?

I aint taking the piss out of them just yet, they are still ahead of us in the league, they beat us at our place, and have the chance of doing the double against us.

so why wind them up, when we have nothing to back it up with!

yes they are a dodgy club, with a lot of stuff I dont agree with, but I wont take the piss until we have at least beaten them at Elland Road!!

I cannot wait for this game!!

Wise words mate

What annoys me is that Leeds didn't seem to care about the 15 points deduction until it looked like they weren't going to get automatic promotion and then decided to appeal. That may not be the case but that is how it appears.

the legal minutae apart, Leeds only survived because it wasnt in the other clubs interest to kick them. that might change once the season ends with an appeal knocking about. certainly next time, and there probably will be with Bates around, there wont be such a reprieve. If i were Leeds id be glad to be still playing/watching and just leave it be.

Well, that's about the fans, and this whole case has nothing to do with the fans. Bates needs the club to be as high in the league as possible for when he cuts and runs. All he wants is a fat profit. The club and the fans mean nothing to him. If he could make a profit closing the club down, he would.

Leeds would be throwing not just one division but two divisions into chaos if they got their points back. I can't see the League backing down on this one, the fallout would not bear thinking about.

I think the suggestion from Starry is that it's nothing to do with the league backing down, but a legal challenge that could rule the deduction as unlawful, such that the Football League are legally bound to re-instate the points.

Regardless, unless someone can show me otherwise, everyone associated with attempting to get the points back really are the lowest of the low. Leeds have and are f***ing the spirit of football good and proper.

nah. we have no shame.

and it is a tin point division full of proper football fans, proper football grounds and real football people (mostly) i read the thread the other day on here about "how far do you think brighton will progress in your lifetime" and the people saying i want us to be in the premiership, maybe challenging for champions league. i don't understand that. i know you have had some really awful times with the goldstone, with finances, with simply just existing but you are existing in a league that for now, is still all about the football, where the league haven't quite (yet, but it is coming) fallen up their arses, where any club can beat another, where there are not four teams with more money, rich backers who just pump more and more in and so preventing the others getting a look in.

eh. give me the tin pot league and let the others stick their pl up their arse. even the championship will head that way soon - the same 4/5/6 teams yo-yo-ing with their millions of parachute payments.

ahh.

Seriously which league would you like Leeds to play in Starry?

Do any of your fellow fans share the same views?

Fair point.
But I can't see the courts instructing the points being reinstated. The Football League are the governing body, its their competition, and by competing in it all clubs must abide by its rules. The crux of Leed's argument (and I stand to be corrected here) seems to be that there is no "rule in a book" stating that the FL can deduct 15 points for coming out of Administration without an agreement in place with the creditors.

Thats as maybe, but just because no other club had ever broken the rules in this particular manner, doesn't mean that Leeds can just get away with it scott-free. As the governing body, the FL are in a position to issue punishment as they see fit, and in this case, the 15 point deduction was actually pretty lenient IMHO.

Tell you what - when Leeds were scrambling around in a panic trying to get their Golden Share back to allow them to play this season, I thought at the time they were damn lucky to get it back. Had the FL known back then that Leeds would then just drag their 15 point penalty through the courts, I bet they wish they'd turned round and said "f*** you" on the Golden Share issue in the first place now.

Leeds, utter scum beneath contempt.

indeed. A great big two finger salute. i wonder if they are not willing to accept their punishment, a condition of them receiving the FL share, that there might be a move from other clubs and the FL to take back the share. As far as i can tell the CVA still hasnt been fulfilled and the revenue still owed, so its all going to blow up again soon.

Leeds and their cheating lying corrupt scum sucking red-cross defrauding shit of a chairman should have been thrown out of the league for they way they deliberately flouted the rules in coming out of administration the way they did.

IF they get the points back then the FL should withdraw their share for bringing the game into disrepute.
