Leeds United's players have not been paid their wages for June, BBC Radio Leeds understands.
A spokesperson for the Professional Footballers' Association told BBC Radio Leeds that "strenuous efforts are being made... to stabilise the situation."

"Players can't be expected to represent the club whilst training and playing for nothing."

Most of the League One club's players agreed to a wage deferral in May after Leeds went into administration.

Thirty-two of the 36 players who were at the club at the time agreed the deferral in order to help secure the long-term future of the club.

More to follow.

All of which makes it very odd why Constantine is hanging around to play for them?

If it's only Leeds and Brighton offering him a contract, why the hell isn't he going where there is - to quote the player himself - decent money on the table?

Because They will be able to offer more, By not paying the players they can leave on a free and save Leeds more money - A cheap way of releasing players.
Bates will go to any level to cheat.

Until Bates goes or dies we are going to keep hearing about Leeds and their woes. The man is the kiss of death to football clubs and what is happening at Leeds would have happened at Chelsea if the Russian hadn't stepped. in.

what odds do you reckon you can get on Leeds not starting the season? its starting to look decidely dicey for them. one company owns players in administration, another owns everything else (ground?) transfered from the old company. so as it stands is seems neither can actually field a team in line with FL/FA rules. I cant help feel a little sorry for the Leeds fans, noone deserves to be f***ed about like this.

Leeds don;t own the ground either. They sold it years ago, and are leasing it back from the council I believe.

I think Constantine is hanging around in the hope that Leeds can play in the FL. But, he will only hang around for so long.

Whether he would then come to us, depends on whether there is an offer still on his coffee table from us.

I hope the FL stand up the Bully boy Bates. Cos thats what he is a big bully. The FL should tell Bates that Leeds United 2007 will not be playing in the FL.

Thinking it through, what stops someone from buying the Leeds FC that are still in administration that holds players registrations and that can play in the FL?

I know that might mean not being able to play at Elland Road (as Bates probably holds the lease on that), nor train at Thorpe Arch (again Bates holds that lease), but they could share with another club until a new ground is built.

The debts, I imagine.

I'm still not clear what has been "sold" to Bates's new company.

Wish it was the council (that was many years ago when the RL was at Elland Road as well), it was sold to the fictional Jacob Adler who has since sold it (or the majority of it) to an as yet unnamed person - Morris made noises that the person was him.

While I don't know who the clubs are I do know he has two contracts on the table at two clubs other than Leeds but as he told Paddy he is "happy to wait, innit" while Leeds do their thing. Or don't do their thing.

Don't know about the rest of you but I'm not sure I want a player who'd make us wait whilst he hangs around hoping to play a team with Leeds problems rather than us? Hope he signs for them myself, rather than come down here as a last resort. Sounds a right moody sod anyway :glare:

I agree with Icy. I'd hate us to sign a player who scored 27 goals last season, especially if he's a bit 'moody'.
