Leeds administration

You might have a point there, think they were trying to find a sponsor willing to shell out £12k for their last home game so that they could let the crowd in for free...either a brave attempt to fill the ground and create an atmosphere or some sort of tax dodge.

So, the chairman of Rotherham is suggesting that another team is about to go into administration, I am assuming that he wasn't referring to Leeds or his own club...any ideas who it might be?

Yep - I was listening to Radio Leeds online last night, when he was interviewed.

He was talking about football finances generally.

Fantastic listening actually.

The Leeds goings on are very complicated - Nobody knows who REALLY owns Elland Road.

Seems to complicated by this "option to buy back Elland Road", a sentance I think Leeds fans will be hearing a lot over the next fortnight.

This was the view on here maybe three years ago, that there were numerous clubs with a dodgy financial situation and in a position where they might fold and disappear completely. Fortunately that didn't happen, however it appears that the problem hasn't gone away and may be about to rear its ugly head again.

I suppose it makes you greatful for our position, at least we know our finances are crap and we don't own the ground, at least we are realistic about our situation.

And that is mostly down to Dick Tight as he is affectionately referred to by some on here. Without his restraints this club would probably be in a far worse position than Leeds find themselves in.

It frustrates the daylights out of us when we are desperate for new, experienced players but thankfully us fans aren't in charge, spending money we don't have.

IF the rules allow a club to go into administration before the end of the season and lose the points this season, is it vaguely suprising that Leeds wil chose to do just that. No point having a go at Leeds for cheating if it's the system that's f***ed??

I think many people's problems with Leeds is that this is the second time in recent times that they've gone down this route, screwing creditors along the way. Not to mention other clubs who try to live within their means rather than spending millions that they don't have.

The league needs to make some rapid amendments to the rules-this week if possible.

I don't disagree but they'd be mugs NOT to use any loopholes.

Leeds are being underhand, but who can blame them for playing the system?

Any rule change is very complicated. If you say "if they go into admin after X date, then the points deduction is carried over to the following season", then if they were just outside the drop zone, this would actually help the afflicted club. [like Rotherham, who hung on to the end of the season to take the penalty, and in so survived, last year, when to all extents they were bankrupt weeks earlier.

If alternatively you say, "if a club are already down, when they go into admin, the points will be carried over" this would still not cover the current Leeds situation, as they are NOT technically down yet.
