To be honest, I wouldn't be opposed to Luke McCormick playing for the Albion after his spell in prison, I've always rated him as a good goalkeeper, and he was devastatingly unlucky that he killed people when he had his incident. People make mistakes, they should be able to serve their time and then get back into society, he's behaving himself and abiding by the laws, so he's the same as anyone else now. It's just people's prejudices which might prevent people signing him. He's obviously a quality striker though.

1) It wasn't just an 'incident'. It was an accident.
2) Devastatingly unlucky? He drove whilst over the limit with little or no sleep.
3) He was not unlucky. He was lucky that he did not kill himself and the father as well as the two young boys.
4) The only devastating occurrence is that two young boys will never grow up and the two parents lived to bury their children.

Obviously the fact that he killed people makes it different because people will point to that fact and use it against him. But how many people drink and drive every day and get away with it? In that way, he's unlucky. He's undefendable in the act itself because it's disgraceful behaviour and he should be ashamed. Which is he is. He's in prison for it, but there's nothing he can do to appease the family. It's one of those horrible things that happens in life, but you've got to go on. I don't think it fair to hold it against him for the rest of his life, at some point you have to get over it, in my opinion.

so are you saying if he was a plumber and he came and fixed your sink you would stand there telling him he's a tosser the whole time? use some logic he has done time and by our law he is a free man.

If Lee Hughes played for the Albion and banged in 25 goals a season he would be the ideal replacement for Fozzy.

I wouldn't employ him for anything. Just because he is a free man, doesn't mean I have to have even a slither of respect for him does it?

I feel quite strongly about Lee Hughes. What he did was a terrible tradegy and he was punished for it. I was pleased that another club took him on and gave someone who is an tremendously gifted footballer a second chance, which I believe we all deserve.

Having stuck up for him though I felt really let down the first time I saw his ridiculous 'morris dancer' celebration, and it has really bothered me ever since. It smacks of arrogance and of someone who wants attention for himself rather than getting on the with job he was lucky enough to be offered on his release.

If I has done what he had done, I hope during the course of my time in prison I would have reflected on what a complete and utter twat I had been, how I'd been unable to cope with the rewards and benefits that come from being a professional footballer whilst accepting none of the responsibility that comes with it, and most of all done some growing up. On my release I hope I would have kept my head down and not want to draw attention to myself, and make the most of the second chance I had been given. Celebrations like that, yeah OK can be funny, but, and I'm sure most people like myself approaching their 40's and beyond feel the same, lets be honest are a bit childish. By celebrating in the way he does, it just says to me that he learnt nothing by going to prison, and I worry that he would do something equally as stupid again.

Would I want him at my club? Would definately want the talent, but not the arrogance. He would need a manager to ground him in the reality of what he has done.

I wonder what his victims family think everytime they see him celebrate?

Served his time in jail and learnt the hard way. Im sure we all know someone who has spent time at HMP and has been let out to continue getting on with there life, i would have no problem if he came to Brighton and the same if i found out a Plummer/Builder came to my house to do a job who had committed the same offence, hes served his time he didnt mean to do what he did so end of.

So what your saying is its fine for Hughes to play football but if he celebrates a goal then he is rubbing it in to the family and wanting all the attention on him?

I would DEFINATLY have Hughes in the team, he is still a very good player at our level and would definatly score goals!!

To be honest he can even be manager if he wants, aslong as he doesnt drive the team coach!

Leslie Grantham spent time in side for murder but I can't remember any one saying that he should not be allowed to act again on TV or on stage.Lee Hughes did the crime and served his time.If BHA signed him I would have no problem with that

I personally think he should be allowed to ply his trade as a professional footballer, because he did his time for that crime.

Would I want him at The Albion in some capacity in future? Absolutely no freaking way. I think he's a Grade A Scumbag.

Am I being hypocritical? You bet I am.

A few facts about the Lee hughes case. He killed someone driving on the wrong side of the road, over the drink driving limit, over the speed limit and run away from the scene for good measure. I regularly drive down the bit of road where the accident happened and I cant think of a more dangerous stretch to do what he did or a worse way of dealing with it. He is obviously a grade a thug.

Unfotunately it looks according to the stories that have come out about him that his hasn't learnt a great deal (had the old manager in a headlock a couple of weeks back). I wouldn't want him anywhere near our club.

Having said all that did a certain A Hinshelwood drive a car, uninsured and over the limit a few years back?
