I suspect he meant in the public consciousness, rather than legally.

Ah yes. Is it though? My experience is it's pretty 50/50 between the 'no smoke without fire' camp and the 'yeah right, she was well up for it' camp, with a lot of ambivalent shruggers in between.

I like the term "ambivalent shrugger" and I want to be one.

I'm being a little flippant there
I should hope so. Or should we just castrate all males at birth to be on the safe side?
My point is simply just because "no one has been convicted in the last 30 years"* doesn't mean none of them were guilty.
Of course. But just think how it would affect you and your family if you were wrongly accused of something, and assumed to be guilty by our daily mail readers.

No it's not. The only UK laws where the burden of proof is reversed are those concerning health & safety and environmental legislation.

Sorry meant in the public conciousness. A friend of mine was wrongly accused of being involved in a rape he was cleared and had a stonewall alibi but all through his protests of innocence people were questioning him, even when he had all charges dropped he still is victimised by people even now and this all happened 3 years ago.

The OP said pro footballers

Tes Bramble was a pro footballer, played for Southend. Or were you just querying Titus's ability...

I understand. Sorry to hear about your friend, must be an awful thing to live with that stigma.

Held in connection with a sex attack in Croydon. Released on bail.

I now dont feel guilty for drunkenly shouting "Murderer" at him every 2 minutes at Oldham a few years ago. God I was a state.
