It makes no sense to have Baldock ( a striker who doesn't score in the Championship ), and Gregory ( a striker with a 1 in 5 goal ratio in the Championship ) as 2 of our 4 strikers if we are aiming for promotion.

Very underwhelming.

One season at this level having come straight from non league. Vardy struggled in his first season at this level too.

In fact, having looked it up, he got 5 goals in 29 games and in a Leicester team who were a lot better then than Millwall were two seasons ago

... and Gregory ( a striker with a 1 in 5 goal ratio in the Championship )...

Very underwhelming.

I know a man that had a goal in every 368' in his first season in 2nd tier. In his 2nd season he had a goal in 182'. His name is Vardy.

Gregory had ratio of 1 in 324' in his first season in the Championship.

Their conference ratio was almost identical.

Not a marquee signing we are hoping for by any means but you got to stay hopeful.

Not really the no10 that Hughton confirmed is the type of striker we are after...

I'm sure the info was in good faith but I just can't see it... Equally millwall will be giving up on going up if they sell him

The thing about Vardy is he is one of the fastest footballers in the world. That was why Leicester took a punt on him and that's the main reason he is such a good player. When you're signing a player from the lower leagues I think you have to be able to identify a clear asset the player has, to make him worth a punt- be it potential, speed, strength etc. It's unlikely they're ever going to be the best player technically, so what else do they bring?
When you look at Gregory (albeit from Youtube) you just think 'meh', 'what's he actually going to bring with him?'. And, if it's just that he is neat and tidy, puts a shift in etc is it worth spending 2 million?
Might as well of got Wilson back.

Sounds like a very COG-esque potential signing. Not particularly optimistic if it does happen but will give him a chance if so.. I'd be more than happy for this post to be given a mocking bounce in a few months.

I would be amzed if this is true. Can't say for sure that it is not but I doubt it.

In fact I would be more than amazed if this is true. I have seen loads of Gregory playing. He is not that good. He misses more than he scores and another reason (not for this board) would leave me really shocked if he signed for Brighton.

Rotherham have been trying to land him all summer but couldn't afford the £2mill tag Millwall put on him. Wednesday :lolol: and Celtic were also interested.

I'm still sticking up for Baldock on that note. He isn't going to get 20 goals a season in this league and his finishing isn't great but he is a very clever player with a good attitude and a good work ethic. Still an asset for the squad in my eyes, maybe not as a starter but definitely as a more defensive-minded attacking option from the bench. We still need another out-and-out attacking option though ie a pacy striker that scores goals.. I don't think Gregory is that man.

If we sign him, I'll assume Paul Winstanley and Chris Hughton would have done their job right. If Gregory is good enough for them, it's good enough for me.

This is encouraging. Let's hope this goes the same way as the Russell Martin rumour ( which you doubted ), and never comes to anything.

We'll file this under a Millwall mate's wind up then, until we see something positive from the club.

In all seriousness, Ive only seen him on highlights shows and its mostly Gregory missed another sitter.

I would rather get that Afikenwa lump in as a plan B

Can't say I'm particularly overwhelmed by the prospect of Gregory, but Winstanley rarely gets transfer targets wrong. I have faith in the team of Winstanley, Hughton and Barber to get us the right targets for the right price.
