Yes, sorry, you are right. It was after almost a minute of injury time. I thought it was just before. But it had already looked bad for several minutes before. Of course people have a right to do whatever they like but it's a shame that's all.

And as for the selfish people who leave five minutes before half time but choose the moments when we are launching an attack after sustained Swansea pressure, for one, why when we are almost scoring and second, if you are going to leave early, then leave and don't block the poor sods views who are unfortunate enough to sit by an exit! Rant over...

Perhaps you’d like to try leaving on the final whistle of an evening game at the Amex and making the 11.30pm from Euston to Birmingham, knowing that if you miss it you’ve got a night on a bench at Euston.

I never leave early. I guess it means it takes maybe 20-30 minutes longer to get out but so what. Team deserves our support for the full 90 minutes and clapped off at the end.

I’d also add that having been to 70 of the current English stadiums we are not alone in being very hard to get away from.

I know, I know it has been on this board so many times already. I also know the usual sentiment towards those who leave early.

Having waited for almost an hour to get on a park and ride at the last game I took my son to, then having got to my car doing the hour and a bit drive home, we got up and left a couple minutes early today. I didnt want to miss seeing Locadia score, but of course he did.

So what's the point of this post? When we got outside it struck me how many people were running... hundreds of people were running...either to the car park, the trains or the busses. I mean really running...in droves.

These people arn't running to make sure they miss last minute goals. They're running because getting out of the Amex is painful and no-one likes sitting in their car or waiting for a bus for an hour. Something must be able to improve the flow through. Dedicated bus lanes in and out of the stadium with more busses? Something.

As for the geniuses that text into BBC Sussex to grumble about people leaving early...most folks dont want to.

After Stoke away I sat in the queue in the Rugby Club car park/access road for 50 minutes and didn't get clear of the traffic until about 6.15pm. Huddersfield took about 40 minutes. The Amex is just as bad as most other grounds bit the difference is that you get stuck right next to the ground rather than 10 minutes walk away.

Don't get the early leaving myself as unless I had work I would happily just chill out and have a pint after the game to avoid the queue but each to their own.

When my sons first went to watch the Albion, it was a 15 minute walk home from the Goldstone and they were young and carefree and time didn't matter. Now they have a 300 mile round trip for EVERY home game. Leaving 3 minutes from the final whistle can save them 30 - 60 minutes queuing to get out of the car park and may keep the journey down to less than 3 hours with a lot of luck. They have left wives and family behind who also would like to enjoy family socialising but who are not perhaps football fans.

You may have an empty, selfish life - but intelligent, conscientious people have to manage their time skillfully. I bet the club admires their dedication!

To be fair to Guy your son is clearly an exceptional case. For most people leaving the Amex they will be fairly local and 30-60 minutes would make little difference to their day.

There are clearly some very dedicated long distance travelling Albion fans that few would begrudge leaving early with a long trip home. Everyone needs to stop being so ****ing precious and enjoy the fact that we won!

Using the Coventry game as an example, it really does make a huge difference leaving slightly early and running.

I left on 90 minutes and ran from the NS to the Mill Road park n ride buses.

My son left on final whistle, doing an identical trip, and got home 50 minutes later. Standing in huge park n ride queues waiting for the return of the buses.

Missing added time, to get home almost an hour earlier, is worth it IMO.


I don’t hold this against the club. Shifting 30,000 people from a small outskirts site, so quickly, is very well done.

Same here. Decided to leave the Coventry game on 85 mins. Straight on the Mill road P&R. It was lovely. Stayed again until the end and waited an hour freezing my nuts off. Worth it though and it's nice to clap the players off.

Before someone mentions the East stand emptying, I took a few pictures of the West stand well before the full 90 minutes were up. The North was the same as I'm sure was the East. It is a great pity that we did so well today and yet so many rushed off. Oh well.

I do find it ironic that the OP's name is Twickers. Now there's a stadium where it's impossible to get away quickly. The last time I went there, it took more than an hour just to reach the station, let alone catch a train (and that was with the ground only half full), it took about 80 minutes to actually get on a train.

It also took about 80 minutes to get on a train at the Madjeski ... the Amex is a doddle in comparison

I can't speak for anyone else, but I can't get to every home game, so when I can I want to make the most of it. That means getting there around an hour before kick-off, meeting a few people, soaking up the atmos, enjoying the game, staying in the seats to clap the players off and then watching the highlights again on the concourse TVs. If some people have to leave early for their own (no doubt perfectly legitimate) reasons then I'm sorry for them. If they don't have to but do so anyway, I'm baffled. We've waited a long time for this and why anyone wouldn't want to enjoy every second is beyond me.

Here we go. This is where a number of posters try to imply 10,000 all have urgent matters to attend or live in the bloody west country or somewhere.

If you have valid reasons for leaving early (only you know) then why you feel the need to post here is ****ing bewildering. If I had legitimate reasons my conscience would be clear without the need to justify it to anyone.

We play 19/23 league games a season at home, it's not exactly a major commitment to write off the entire day as an occasion. If it is, then I would suggest picking and choosing games would be a better option than a Season Ticket. All besides the point, because most of us know the majority of them live locally and just want to save 30mins for the sake of saving 30mins.

I was watching the end of the game on a stream on the way back from playing football today. Was really disappointing to see how empty the east stand (and im sure the other stands but obviously the East is where the cameras face) was by 85 mins. One of the biggest and most important wins for many a year and thousands wanted to rush home to sit in front of the telly rather than soak up the victory and clap and cheer the lads off. I know it won't change, I know it's been talked about to death on here, i know there are many people who have genuine reasons to leave early. Obviously not that many though as the day we got promoted v Wigan funnily no one had to rush off early. It doesn't usually wind me up much but today it did as the lads fully deserved to be cheered off by a near enough full house. It really is a sad reflection of the society we live in today unfortunately.
