[Albion] Leandro Trossard SIGNS ON A FOUR-YEAR DEAL

Still in Brighton
When Toss made his early super sub appearances I thought he was amazing, as good as Hazard with his feet and control. Then he faded, with odd moments of magic and still a very exciting player but he took a long time to settle in. Now he looks in his prime and ready for a European Super League club. Time to join Maupay?

We're now used to contracts running down as the bane of our football supporting loves. Damn you Jean Marc Bosman.

With Leandro I can see us sanctioning a January sale. With 18 months left, if we can get a bidding war going we can get very good money, especially if he has impressed at the world cup.

If we can still qualify for Europe, this will increase the motivation we have to resist offers and might offer him a carrot to sign on for another deal with us.

Trossard is live on the Monday Night Club in R5L according to their tweet a few mins ago.

From eight. Unfortunately I'll miss it.

The fact that it's been reported(albeit loosely), would suggest to me that these discussions are already underway. As mentioned before, in order to keep both MacAllister and Trossard I think we're going to have to burst a £100k a week for each of them

Kind of makes me think with all the sales we’ve made we should be looking to increase wages significantly for some of our key players now especially if we expect top half finishes regularly. We can’t keep getting ‘lucky’ and produce as many PL ready replacements so easily

Not disagreeing necessarily, but it's worth considering that there's a risk with giving players new, better and extended contracts just as there is with replacing them. Sometimes a player needs to move on for a new challenge, just as most managers have a shelf life at a particular club.

Not that I'm actively saying we should flog Trossard and MacAllister as soon as possible, I'm just observing there are risks to keeping a player in the squad as there are with replacing them.

Possibly but have to rely on the management to make that call. Our wage bill has increased over time so not impossible but would like to think we become more competitive to keep / retain players.

I don’t really know how / why but I fear we become another Southampton and lose to many players we cant replace

I read the other day that the optimum number of signings to make every season is about 2.5.

Which would imply you also need to sell 2.5 players a season to maintain the squad size.

Some of those will be players who haven't made it for whatever reason, but realistically we're going to be selling a good player most seasons to keep the finances going and to demonstrate we can act as a springboard for players.

Or of course, it could all go horribly wrong :shootself

At this point gotta think the price is 50 in Jan. But would prefer to have him for 18 months more and let him leave on a free to someone like real.

Anything but Chelsea. Pleasssse.

You would turn down 50m to lose him on a free? Glad you're not running the club.

IF 50 is what someone offers, take it and get Mudryk for 30

I think the issues with Stains was their recruitment and development squad was neglected which stopped the likes of Lallana, Shaw etc.. not be replaced.

Hopefully our recruitment carries on and that Potter's man wasn't the key component in our recent success and we carry on finding the diamonds in the rough.

We are where we are in the food chain. But hopefully we'll increase our top wage limit to keep hold of Mac Argie, Tross and Big Bob in the summer.

Weren’t most of the players we are worried about losing now with us before Potter and his recruitment man joined us?

When he went down injured on Saturday- I thought he was coming off- but he came back stronger and scored !!

I might be mistaken but I’m pretty certain he did something similar away to Brentford last season???

***Apologies if this has already been discussed in other threads
