I doubt if any of our players will get into the official team when it is announced, but the business is about building a team of players that work together, and I doubt that the selected eleven would be that.

Mr Poyet is trying to build a team, making the most of what he inherited, trying to build on that.Needs some work in the striker dept.,if you ask me.Well, all right, you're not going to ask me,are you ?

We'd probably get more in the League 1 plonkers X1.

Bennett is possibly the only player who might get a mention but none of our players will get in, no one who finishes below mid table will do unless they score 20 + in a poor team.

No, I'm saying that an ATTACKING midfielder who has scored a limited amount of goals and very rarely plays incisive through balls or directly sets up goals is probably not good enough to get in the Leeds, Charlton, Norwich, Swindon sides etc etc.

What the f*** is so unusual about that?

If he was playing these great through balls and people were missing chances - or not making the runs - then obviously I would adjust my view about his lack of assists. The through balls aren't being played. For all his qualities, his passing range is very limited.

But I'm sure the likes of Leeds and Norwich will be desperately scrambling for his signature and offering us millions for him come pre-season.....

Who said anything about him being an attacking midfielder? His duties as a midfield player are many, varied (attacking AND defending) and constant - so bollocks to those assets, right?

You have written him off because you don't think he plays killer passes, or notch in with 15 goals a season. He does actually do his fair share of setting up chances.

And what has Leeds or Norwich not coming in for him got to do with it?

 yourself...

So the player who is called the "League one steven gerrard" isn't worht a shout? And were in the situation were in because our defence was leaking goals for funzies. Our attack, on the whole, hasn't been too bad. Slade was sacked after a 3-3 draw, we've been scoring, just not ddefending.

I think crofts is worth a shout, him or bennett. Or Calderon if he's eligable.

:clap2::laugh: This is probably the best argument I've ever heard, and in keeping with the spirit of it I've just decided to label Colin Hawkins the League 1 Vidic, so anyone who argues he shouldn't be in the League 1 team of the season is an idiot.

Anyway, why are you having a go at Chesney Christ? He hasn't out and out criticised Crofts he's just pointed out that to suggest he is anywhere near a team of the season is laughable. Let's just consider the fact that there are 2 central midfield spots available, would anyone seriously say that Crofts is in the best 2 central midfielders of the season in the entire league?

I would have thought Calderon was our best/only chance of getting someone into the XI however I do have a fairly limited knowledge on the other right backs in League One

I don't think Crofts would get into the League One Team of the Year - nor anyone from the Albion, but to suggest he wouldn't get into Swindon's or Millwall's or Colchester's midfield - I don't go with that for a second.

With Colchester, the only reason he wouldn't get in is because his talents would be basically wasted. They've got Prutton in their side - what a waste of talent.

I very much doubt any of our players will be in that team. Not a single player in our squad has been that consistently good enough throughout the entire season to warrant a place in the team of the year.

I don't think he is good enough to get in a top League One side. Doesn't mean I have "written him off" at all. What rubbish. I have stated several times now that I think he is good so I am getting bored saying it.

I think he is decent, but no more than that. He is consistent, hard working and committed, but he rarely dictates games like a top quality midfielder and he has nowhere near as much class on the ball as someone like, say, Jason Puncheon. He is not even the most talented midfielder in our squad (IN MY OPINION). Sorry.

:US:

All I said was that I don't think he is good enough to get in a top side in this division. I don't understand why you have such a problem with that?? Its a game of opinions isn't it? I think he is good but not great. You think he is great. Apologies.

Anyway, you are boring me to tears now, so you can try and bludgeon me (rather than just accepting I have a different opinion to you) with your opinion in person when I see you on the 24th to hand out the REMF leaflets...

Errrr i'm not? We've got differing points of view on how good he is. We're discussing them. I'm not having a go. He's not either. Hawkins is clearly the Vidic of League One :jester:

I think Crofts is a fantastic player and rate him high enough.

Oh god. Someone has decided Crofts is an 'attacking' midfielder again. He is not an attacking midfielder. He is a neutral midfielder. He works both ends of the pitch and gets into good positions in both, as his goal tally this year shows. These goals seem to have cursed him with some people on here. It's because he's scored them that people suddenly think he's an attacking midfielder. If he'd have only scored one or two goals then this attacking midfielder myth wouldn't exist.
